The Ender mites...seem pointless to me....
The mine cart updates is even worse. Now all we can make is straight lines, really.
The 3D models look very promising, though. I can't wait to see what is made with them.
i downloaded the 3d pack (well what there is of it so far) installed it like normal, it shows up on the list and all - its something ive done 100 times) and its in top position on the right, but no textures are 3d, its like its not there, what am i doing wrong! im so excited for this!
3D textures, now that definitely looks a lot cooler... Plus those Endermites are really cool too, shame you can't keep them as pets without the fear of them killing you.
ugh. Endermites, really? Pointless.
Not to just be endlessly ranting without purpose, I would like to keep this short.
First, even though not stated in this video, the villager changes are trash. I can't even finish a build I've wanted to do since 1.7 just came out. This really de-motivates me. I really hope mojang isn't turning minecraft into a "City" or town-type game. I've always liked the sort of, you are surviving on your own, do things to make time pass, like farming, or creating mob traps, etc. Honestly, the new villager AI Is terrible in my opinion, just changing something that people have never had a problem with, and for some people, making it worse.
Second, Endermites are just the worst thing mojang has ever conceived since bats. They're useless(besides being annoying and making enderchests less wanted). I wish mojang had options for people who play single player to edit things and customize. The worse part is, now that they've added them, people are saying that they like them, and Mojang has less of a consent to take them out.
Overall, I really thought that Mojang was going in a good direction with Minecraft, but that doesn't seem to be true anymore, to me and (probably most) others. I guess we'll just have to get used to it, or just stop playing. Even though this isn't the best kind of position to be in with a video game company.

I am sorry if you read this, and ended up hating me for it, i'm simply just speaking my mind. If you harshly read this while seeing me as a complaining jerk, that's okay, just hear me out. And, if you read this with an "I agree" mindset, even better, I encourage you to speak your mind as well.
Hey!
Before I reply, I have to admit that I didn't use the snapshot yet and didn't have a chance to meet endermites. But I think I know where they come from. First of all there was endless debate about minecraft being too easy. Soooo boring. So, we have new zombies, baby zombies, new mob AI and now endermites. We wanted it, remember?
Second thing, I think they (Dinnerbone und alles) wanted to give a little thrill to enderpearls transportation. And I don't know if endermites spawn in the End but if so, the place might be more challenging at last.
I hope they change the enderchest thing though, as this item is very useful.
It would be awesome if they spawn in strongholds along with regular silverfish, and in the End as well. I think that having it spawn near enderchests and enderpearls could get a little old and annoying.
Making the game harder, but in the places it should be, and in the right amounts, would be best. I think these sort of far-off ideas could in the long run actually ruin the game rather than make it better.
mc's been out for 2+ years but it's the best change ever made since the release
wow like
jesus
the bricks, the bed, the everything
and it's actually customizable by the packs' authors
I seriously can't wait, most modpacks are still 1.6.4 even tho 1.7.2's been out for a while, but w/e, I'll play vanilla just for that
I'll install SEUS on it when it'll be out
I will have the worst lag but it will look soooooooo pretty
oh and those "ambient" mobs that are just there for the atmosphere (endermites that hang out near portals and enderchests and auto-despawn after a while after spawning)
this is just simply amazing
Anyone notice that while you can put a torch on a regular glass block, you cannot put one on a colored glass block? And why couldn't the glass blocks allow placement of the torches on the sides?
This update is pretty cool but I kinda have to agree with MCFormater. Mojang should try and focus on making the game more fun to play and try to make the game more around perfect by possibly adding more achievements and some more challenges into the game.
However, This new 3D texture pack will make Minecraft more enjoyable to the general public which is pretty cool.
PS. I think they should focus more on the actual gameplay then on mobs and blocks.
PPS. I hope when 1.8 comes out that Minecraft will have new surprises for us all.
Are you referring to 3D models, and if so, how can you say this? You don't have to utilize it if you don't want to, but it gives us a TON of more control over the visual look over Minecraft! It allows you to not only change models, but also how blocks are textured!
When actual texture definition is added (allowing you to choose multiple textures instead of using what the game wants) it will completely remove the need to use CTM to change block side textures, such as giving bricks a different top face. You can do that now, but not without breaking legacy versions or trying to do some animation trickery.
Also, if done properly, models are just awesome, I'd say awesome enough to outweigh not having CTM features available.

If it takes just as much work to remove the 3D effects as it does to get them to do what you want, that defeats the entire purpose of "not having to use it if you don't want to". You know that just as well as I do. Why should we have to learn a whole new coding system to do what we could do before without any coding at all?
I can fully understand how it might be considered "awesome" by those who merely use resource packs, but as a person who actually develops one, its a goddamned nightmare.

Can you tell me what exactly it is that you've had to "remove"? They aren't adding any models in vanilla, and there shouldn't be any changes to models other than the possibility to make them custom for your pack.
I'm also a "developer" of a pack, but haven't had any issue like this, so I'm not sure where you're coming from.
According to whom? I've checked the releases and Mojang never said anything of the sort, and there's no reason to believe that they'd implement a system they had no intention of using unless they came right out and said so. And considering the fanfare, its unlikely that it'll be dummied out.

Why does Mojang hate resource pack makers?
Erm, what?
