Building on last week's Snapshot, Mojang continues the drive to give mapmakers even more awesome tools (and fix some bugs too)! What's on this week's Snaphot?
FEATURE LIST (MAP-MAKER EDITION!):
- /tp now supports rotation arguments
- Player selectors (@p, @e, etc) now support cubic areas. For example: @e[x=0,y=0,z=0,dx=10,dy=10,dz=10] gets all entities between 0,0,0 and 10,10,10
- Added /clone command to copy large areas to other areas
- Added a /fill command to fill a large area with a block
SERVER FILES:
- Cross-platform jar:https://s3.amazonaws...rver.14w03a.jar
- Windows EXE:https://s3.amazonaws...rver.14w03a.exe
EDIT:
Skins have undergonie some changes as well! You can now set different textures for different body parts (instead of one "arm" texture, etc), as well as apply a "hat" layer to any body part, not just the head! Not enough awesome? What if you could toggle any layer parts on your body? You can do that too! Customizing your skin has never been easier, or more cool. Give it a try!
Be right back, I'm going to go server-hopping without my mask.
Okay, I think I figured out how legs/arms work, thanks to the old format. The bottom 16x12 part of each arm/leg is the 4 sides of said arm/leg. The top 8x4 part of each arm/leg is the bottom/top of said arm/leg. The left 4x4 is for the top, and the right 4x4 is for the bottom (foot/hand). Hope this helps people!
Still cannot figure out how to make the 3d on the 3d plane for making a sword in a sheath, that I would still need help with. I don't know how to make the sides of the sheath (It's a leather-like band holding the bottom of the sword. The sword itself is a hat, yet I don't know how to make the sword not look like a *floating* strand of pixels from looking from the front of the skin).
There's no "dimension" argument so you cannot do this in the current snapshot.
However, you can put it in suggestions to add a dimension variable to the "/clone" command.
The skins will have different textures size?
Because it is assumed that the skins of normal size can work well and do not seem to function well, it is better the skins of their original texture.
Ah but I hope you put the Skirt part, For girls who want to make skirts.
It doesn't really matter, since they will find a way to make the game laggier and finally make it unplayable for me as well.
They WILL make it laggier,as usual.
WHAT IS GOING ON?!
Anyways, I like the skin changes. Thanks Mojang!
Well, it could if you're on a multiplayer server with tons of people. There's a lot of transparency it'd have to render on all of the skins. I don't think it'd cause TOO much lag, but I think it could potentially cause some lag.
From what I can tell, old skins are still compatible with the skin server
It's a bug, and it is fixed by Dinnerbone, likely for the next snapshot
https://mojang.atlas...browse/MC-45084
I'm assuming this is a bug.
Once I make the skin, how do I upload it to minecraft in order to use it? Do I have to download the snapshot or something?
If you upload a new skin (64x64) and play 1.7.4 it will load the top 64x32 pixels as a pre-14w03a skin. If you play 14w03a with the new skin it loads the skin with the new features.
