Snapshot 13w47a Ready for Testing!

This week's Snapshot brings an exciting new feature: the ability to live-stream your game on Twitch.tv with one click! How does it work?

Before you can start streaming, you will need to visit your Mojang account settings and link a Twitch account to your Mojang account. Then, while in the game, you may check the quality settings in Options -> Broadcast Options, or just go ahead and start broadcasting at any time by hitting F6. This key can be configured in the Controls options.

Currently, the livestreaming feature is only supported on Windows (XP and higher) and Mac OS X Lion (10.7) and higher. If you cannot start broadcasting in-game, go to the options screen and it should say why it isn't working.

To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher.

Uhm. Is this a 1,7,3 snapshot, or a 1,8 snapshot? Because 1,7,2 is really broken and buggy, and this is neat and all, but I think there are some far bigger priorities.

No bugfixes?

To be completely honest, I'd rather Mojang worked on the bugs of 1.7 than work on adding new features.

I can't get livestreaming to start because it says my video card doesn't support the part needed for Twitch... So lame :/

Wow so far the comments aren't liking this cool thing that they added to Minecraft (it is a nice feature you got to admit). which I am glad they added now since we have been waiting for this since Minecon.

The comments don't like it because it isn't necessary. It's COOL, don't get me wrong, but we really want the bug fixes and performance tweaks first.

I'm with the others calling for bug fixes.

Also... I may be a heretic for saying this, but... I'm not sure Minecraft is really that great of a game to stream in the first place. Most good quality Minecraft videos I see are highlight reels, not constant streams, because all the building and digging and grinding for resources can easily be really boring to watch. You need to set up a world for a stream first, like by having a small town prepared and a lively group of friends that play off each other well. Adventure maps may also be a great option, but I don't think Minecraft is a game that ever makes hitting the livestream button on a whim a good idea, and that seems like all that built-in Twitch integration will tempt people to do while the people who make quality videos will just keep on making them the same way they always have.
