Some of the most impressive videos put together for Minecraft are those that recreate a level, a city or an area from other games. This latest diamond is no different. Though you'll have to have some experience with the MMORPG EverQuest under your belt to truly appreciate this, it's a fantastic recreation of one of the most memorable cities in a gaming genre: West Freeport.

Sadly, this is as close to the classic West Freeport that EverQuest veterans will get as of now, due to the area being visually revamped in one of the game's expansions. Thanks go out to Aandolaf for preserving a bit of online gaming history, complete with the zone's original music.

Digital Diamonds is an ongoing look at Minecraft-related videos that have been submitted to the Minecraft forum video section. We'll be selecting memorable videos and those resonating with the community to share with everyone on the front page.

This really isn't that impressive as far as most creations go.

As I said, you have to have played the game to truly appreciate it. But there's no set order to the videos being posted -- I have a few more ready to go and will be posting them over the weekend. I picked this one for today to try and mix things up, so that it's not always a music video, and so on.

Looks pretty cool.
I never played Everquest though.

(maybe my videos will make the "digital diamond" some day)

Interesting you mention that, because I'm actually looking through adventure maps now to add to the list of things to feature. :)

Panthera, you shut your goddamn whore mouth right now. Video games are not about graphics, despite what EA and Activision have lead you to believe. EverQuest was the pinnacle of MMOs in it's time, people actually worked together to overcome bosses, became friends, showed true camaraderie. It also cared about it's lore, unlike games like WoW. When you gained enough money or your class's epic weapon, you knew you earned it. Now, it's all about money.

Great job. Really brought back some memories. I was expecting giant rats on the outskirts. And <quote> what Nalok said. 80+ people raids that lasted 6-8 hours. Have some fun stories and met a lot of great people on EQ.

Awesome!

I hope with the upcoming revamp to Freeport in EQ2 they make the city look more like the EQ1 version.. (Or even more like the beta pics that were "leaked")

Also Panthera, EverQuest was the genre defining game, just because it's graphics aren't very good doesn't mean it wasn't an amazing game. If you didn't play it you won't understand why this is special.

Actually for that matter, if you care about graphics, why do you play with digital legos..?

Wow why does the box support that stuff if it's gonna butcher it when I actually post it, oh well, sorry for that mess of a comment.. >.<

Hut, it's definitely EQ music. Maybe Runescape stole it? You know, considering EQ was released in 1999.
