1.7 Sneak Peek: Sunflowers, Falling Particles
One of the curiosities of Minecraft has always been compass directions. The in-game compass has not ever pointed north, but rather at the player's spawn point. Most people generally assumed that east and west was easily determined by the sun and moon rising and setting, but other things - like cloud movement - always added to the confusion. So, who has the answer?
The humble sunflower!
While many of the upcoming developments of 1.7 have been kept under wraps, Jeb revealed this delightful addition to the game, which is confirmed to always face east! Very nice!
Dinnerbone also gave us a brief look into an upcoming feature which will help with immersion - impact particles! Basically, if you fall more than a certain distance, then you will generate particles from the impact of whatever block you land on. Sweet!
Keep an ear to the ground, because there is a lot more coming up, and you don't want to miss it!
I still hope they do. I like emeralds for a reason.
They aren't 'focusing', just because they added some new flowers doesn't mean this is 1.7 - The Flower Update.
At Minecon 2012, Jeb was asked about Red Dragons. He acknowledges that the Dragon Egg item currently has no use and that it is possible to be used for Red Dragons.[5] He explained that one of the main reasons they are not a high priority to add is because coding them would be difficult. He also makes the example that Ender Dragons fly through terrain as a workaround for the type of coding Red Dragons would require.[6]
That doesn't say 'Confirmed and will be added'
And Notch, Jeb and Dinnerbone, all tried out the forums, but so many noobs, and trolls, and people like you drove them off. They do listen of reddit, both witches and particle effects were added because of a reddit post.
Really? If they didn't care, the game wouldn't have over 11 millions sales for being a good game by now.
And your 7 year old computer was probably the best for it's time. You obviously have no idea that some people play the game with the lowest settings and still get 10 fps. They can't handle a landslide of new features because the game would be unplayable.
They confirmed that other tiers such as emerald and obsidian would not be added, you could use the resource pack system to reskin your diamond ores/tools/armor/everything into emerald stuff and have it be named Emerald *blank*
Link?
I've seen someone poke Jeb about cliffs and they were added into the 1.7 update. I saw others give strong feedback that carrots looked like a suggestive human part so that was changed, and a handful of others. Just need to be at the right place at the right time and to get enough people suggesting it to get it fixed or added. Fishing is getting fixed because people complained about it. We haven't seen anything of it but we know it is getting fixed, and I would actually like to see how fun it is now.
Keep poking around politely and you'll possibly hit the right note for it to fit into the vanilla Minecraft vibe. What's being suggested tends to fit into Tekkit and FTB. It needs to be thought out to keep Minecraft simple yet complex in a simple-fluid manner.
I actually approve of these update styles giving us time to get used to everything.
I will now deconstruct your post:
"They have planned so many cool features like Red Dragon, Panda..."
May I remind you that the Red Dragon was just an idea, never meant to be put in. And I personally have never heard a Panda was being put in. Do you know how long it takes to code a single mob? You try it, it won't be fun.
"Their only focusing on some FLOWERS, instead of FINALLY making the MOBS"
Almost all updates before this all the way to 1.0 contained a new mob. 1.6 containd horses for crying out loud! And the flowers? They will be an easier way to make dye probably. Which pertains to mobs. Specifically sheep.
"Minecraft is SO BORIN that I don't even play it now. And their doing the work SO SLOW!"
If you think Minecraft is boring, think again. I've been playing for 3 years and have yet to be bored, especially with new content added often. If you think it's boring, try some mods until the next update. As for you thinking they are being slow, I would like you to try and code a game. It dosn't help that half the community is rushing them. From what i've heard, there will be 2 times the amount of biomes currently, how long do you think it takes to code that?
"Minecraft modders, make GIANT THINGS in 48 hours"
May I remind you that Minecraft modders are making changes to EXISTING Minecraft code. It seems to me you praise the modder of Minecraft more than Minecraft itself. There WOULD BE NO MODDERS or MODS without Minecraft.
"what do Jeb and Mojang do in 2 months?"
Alot, actually. You do realize that they don't even have to release updates right? 2 months is actually very quick for a game to be updated. Think how long it takes to get a Call of Duty DLC? Geez I love Minecraft.
"Or the 1.6.2 update. Few things, such as horses."
Horses offer a new mode of transportation, I mean would you rather ride a pig? Not to mention 24 colored clay blocks were added, 24 colors of carpet, and leads are also very useful.
"He isn't even on his table/computer. HE'S PLAYING PINBALL!"
Dude. I would LOVE to see you stare at a computer and code a game 24/7. Im SUUUREEEEE you could do it. Those videos you have seen are of Jeb TAKING A BREAK. Not that common, you know
My final statement: Ignore this guy Mojang, and keep doing what your doing.
Those are only biomes that they've hinted at. You don't know how many biomes they're actually adding, but from the looks of Jeb's terrain map image (which is probably already become outdated), they're definately adding more than three.
And when I said balanced, I was talking about their drops and how they actually serve a purpose other than being there that actually makes them uniquely important. I'm assuming the mod you're talking about is Mo' Creatures, and by looking at most of the mobs in the mod, they are barely balanced at all. IF they do drop anything, it seems it's usually something half-assessed (because profanity's not allowed here) like how the rats drop coal. And it's not even CLOSE to 135+ mobs like you said; you've basically included all the different texture variants of actual mobs with different meshes and coding, which don't count.
Plus, you've basically dismissed the biomes as useless while you aren't considering that any quantity of mobs is likely to be "useless" by such standards too. You cleary think that more mobs is a more important addition no matter what, so your argument is subjectively biased.
And, Mo' Creatures was not created in 48 hours
That too.
Your count of rude replies to users on this thread is getting pretty high. Maybe you should take a break and blow of some steam outside for a while. You stated your opinion and it's been heard loud and clear. There is nothing more to benefit from you continuing to trash Mojang and this community.
Besides facing east, and of course its decorative purposes, what else will these sunflowers serve to do? Maybe they have seeds that you can use?
They could always be eaten as seeds (melon and cookie style) or they can be used to power some diesel type engine. Upgraded furnace and similar in a very simplified manner? *shrugs*
You say we don't need sunflowers. Do we NEED dragons? Do we NEED pandas? Do we NEED all of the mobs that you yourself want? The game is already playable with an ending and an extremely complex list of items and things to do.
I thought adding horses to the game would be exciting, but what does Mojang go and do? They practically import horses from DrZ's mod. They're so OP they phaseout all forms of travel and item transport. Mojang should work on their own mobs and keep mod mobs out.
