1.7 Sneak Peek: Sunflowers, Falling Particles
One of the curiosities of Minecraft has always been compass directions. The in-game compass has not ever pointed north, but rather at the player's spawn point. Most people generally assumed that east and west was easily determined by the sun and moon rising and setting, but other things - like cloud movement - always added to the confusion. So, who has the answer?
The humble sunflower!
While many of the upcoming developments of 1.7 have been kept under wraps, Jeb revealed this delightful addition to the game, which is confirmed to always face east! Very nice!
Dinnerbone also gave us a brief look into an upcoming feature which will help with immersion - impact particles! Basically, if you fall more than a certain distance, then you will generate particles from the impact of whatever block you land on. Sweet!
Keep an ear to the ground, because there is a lot more coming up, and you don't want to miss it!
Like we couldn't have just improved compass functionality to make it an actually useful item?!?!... oh well.
Impact particles sound pretty neat. And like the aesthetic purposes for sunflowers, but I can't honestly say that I'll ever use them for the "always facing east" part.
Also, as for the conversation about haters and the game being ruined etc. etc. etc.: Why are you compaining?! No one MAKES you play Minecraft. No one MAKES you use the new features. Ignore horses; don't craft a brewing stand or enchantment table; just ignore whatever you don't like. Don't say you hate the developers because they're expanding minecraft. Would you rather they took away MC altogether and you couldn't play it at all? If not, at least give them SOME praise.
Pardon me for using this overly-used phrase, but if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Unless you have an idea for how to make MC even better, don't complain!!! And CERTAINLY don't waste space on MC Forums to post hatemail about the Developers!!!!!
hmmm...I wonder about the "New Fishing"..
All I wanted was for Dinnerbone to add a Fish mob in Minecraft.
4J is getting the next update approved right now, like I said, do YOU code/mod? And you continue to reference this amazing mod, but never actually provide proof to its existence. If you love it so much download and play it, stop hating on our party.
So I guess you're one of those guys who lives in a dirt house? Some of us actually like aesthetics. And he never said WHEN he'd change fishing, just that he would, and now its been confirmed it'll be changed in 1.7.
'very easy to add'
Once again, do you have any freaking idea what the nether you're talking about?!
Why didn't they implement it then?
Yes he did, but he never said he would release it right away in blank update at blank time. And I am a bit, could you link me to this amazing mod?
So I guess you're just randomly saying a mod exists when you really have no idea if it was really made. Great work

Don't lie
They didn't promise, they said they might add it, and now its getting added, happy? They NEVER promised panda's OR red dragons, so please shut your mouth and let us enjoy the game, you can play with all your fancy giant mods. Also, as Jeb and Dinnerbone said, the new features aren't nearly close to ready for a snapshot, so please calm down and stop making assumptions.
Please, give me specific evidence that panda's and dragons are specifically confirmed to be added into Minecraft in a future update. Also, if you're not lieing you can get me a link, or at least proof that such a brilliant mod was made in such a short time.
Dinnerbone and Jeb are adding features that are enjoyable but if you don't like you don't have to use? GASP! What ever will we do?
Please share with us what does this particular flower has that doesn't fit with the rest of the game...
I sure hope this "doesn't fit" trend doesn't last long.
Mojam was about developing games, not mods.... Anyways, that doesn't specifically say that it would be released at blank time, just that it might be. Now its been confirmed to be in 1.7, you just had false hopes.
Wow. Okay, time to play 'ignore the forum member'
Nuh-uh. Unless you provide a specific name and link, we have every right to assume said mod does not exist.
Can I upvote this 100 times?
