THE EASY WAY
Download the new experimental Minecraft launcher (Click here, and select the launcher for your OS), and select which version of Minecraft you want to play from the dropdown box - no extra installation or effort required!
THE TRADITIONAL WAY

I wouldn't say no to that; The coal block, best known as Block of coal, makes the best subsitute to asplalt/tarmac (No spots, unlike Obsidien).
Windows RT is not designed to run programs like a regular PC, and would require a bit of recoding to be done to make it work, since most Windows RT devices have an ARM processor instead of a x86.
Me too, I just filled in all the lakes in my local deserts by hand.
1.5.1 Update.
Snapshot 13w17a
Yup. It doesn't seem to go over 22 frames for me.
It does work for Windows 8.....
That is too bad. I was really hoping to try out everything new, but it just lags too much.
