Light Sensor Block, as shown by Jeb
Jeb released a teaser image recently, calling it a "Daylight Detector"! Upcoming feature in 1.5, maybe?
Light sensor blocks have, in many different forms, been a feature of numerous mod packs, and with good reason; the block is often depicted sending a redstone signal when a specific light threshold is detected, and otherwise emitting no signal. Many people use them for automatic lighting, doors, or more complicated and esoteric machinery. Will this particular block allow for sensitivity adjustments, letting players tell the block just how much light they want detected? Maybe this is just one exciting part of the upcoming Redstone Update. Dinnerbone already teased a number of redstone logic upgrades, and Mojang continues to pile on the features for the upcoming 1.5 update! We will keep you posted as it develops.
Evan takes us through the last week in Minecraft, check it out!
it fits Minecraft logic and they look the same size as slabs.
but if not they still will be cool!
I fail to see the green you are speaking of. I see brown and an off-white. Nothing the Redstone Lamp doesn't already have.
Brownish-green. Whatever. Brown. It's a much greener brown than dirt, isn't it? Redstone lamps have brown in them because they're turned-off glowstone. The brown in the light sensor has to come from a material in its crafting recipe since there's so much of it. No current material has that color. The crafting recipe will probably consist of a partial rim (like in a chest or furnace recipe, but without the top row) of the new material with redstone dust in the center. Purely speculation, of course.
I can't imagine such effort being put forth for the crafting of such an item. I suppose we will find out. =)
also it would be awesome if they added a form of light source that is safe to the player and not easily destroyed, i think Vechs may have mentioned this in one of his videos XD.
Now notice that sunlight is a light level of fifteen, and the sun isn't low enough to be a lower level of light.
Perhaps it will be like lapis and give you multiple pieces of the mineral for each block of ore?
i have an idea to use it:
R = Redstone T = Redstone torch E= Redstone light
L=Light Sensor B = block
L-R-B-T-R-R-R-E
now you have an automatic night opening light (that only opens at night ofcourse)
or
maybe just an automatic closing piston door during the night 1 block away from your door for extra safety
