Pre-Paid Cards Available in the US, Coming to Europe Later

As many of you know, pre-paid Minecraft Gift Cards are now available in the United States, and can be bought at Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy. The reasons for getting them are many and varied, and they are especially useful for players who would buy the game, but might not have a credit card to do so. They're only available in the U.S. right now.

For now, that is.

Carl Manneh has expressed that Europe will be Mojang's next priority for making Minecraft Gift Cards available! That's right, our friends in Europe will be next on the list to get the gift of gift cards! While no date has been set, Mojang is working hard to make them available as soon as possible. We will keep you posted on any updates!

Pocket Edition 0.5.0 Update Submitted

A new update for Minecraft - Pocket Edition has been submitted, and there are a ton of features coming! What sort of features? Well:

New features:

Paintings
Mushroom farming
Melons
Zombie pigmen
Nether Reactor
Glowstone

Tweaks:

Restore hearts when sleeping in bed
Food now restores more health
Tweaked the fog to make the game less foggy
It is now easier to get out a bed

Bug fixes:

The game could crash when loading a saved game [MCPE-442]
Animals would sometimes never respawn in a map [MCPE-272]
Using an item could sometimes attack animals/players when not facing them [MCPE-269]
Spawning by a bed sometimes resulted in the player being several floors up from it [MCPE-51]
Seeds would drop below grass block when using the hoe [MCPE-7]
About 25 additional bug fixes

Additionally, there are a huge pile of bug fixes coming, very exciting stuff!

We will let everyone know the moment the update becomes available for play - keep your eyes peeled!

Speaking of updates, the 1.4.4 pre-release is quickly approaching this week, so be sure not to miss it!

Someone should notify my local Target and Wal~Mart that Massachusetts is within the US, and that they should carry these, being that neither have heard of them. Hell, a search of 'minecraft' at the target site results in nothing but Legos.

Luckily, I found a friend who allowed me to use his PayPal (moneybookers turned down everything I threw at them.)

What about pre-paid cards in Brazil, the kids here would be glad (specialy a bit cheaper).

I'm looking forward to the Pocket Edition updates, especially the Nether Reactor one.

Target does not sell minecraft gift cards in store or on website and i work at target Surianaceae.

That... uuh...
That's simple and genius, actually.
Makes me think why PC Minecraft hadn't have this feature before the addition of hunger bar.

I agree, it took me a couple weeks going through Moneybookers to buy an account (tried 3 credit/debit cards, I finally had a friend try for me, his credit card worked and I paid him cash). What a pain.. I am so glad they have gift cards now!

Never really liked the pocket edition for minecraft. It's like a little small computer screen in your hand. It would be nice on the iPad I guess. Overall, I don't really like it. Minecraft on PC/Mac FTW!

Usually things come out in US, then Europe, then Australia... but it's usually games, and Japan gets them first... maybe the sweepstakes don't happen in Australia because we got the Star Trek movie first? Nah... my friend has always wanted premium, and he's in Australia too, and my dad won't buy him a gift code, his mum won't, so these will be good... haven't talked to him in a while...

Wow. I wasn't aware they haven't announced Minecraft Pre-Paid Gift Cards till now. I saw it on Minecraft.net for buying the game and it said Gift Cards are available. I checked Wal Mart website and it had Minecraft Pre-Paid Cards are available unlike last week when I discovered it on minecraft.net

Great timing too for the Pre-Paid Cards; it's almost Thanksgiving, Black Friday and the Holidays.
