Many things have been revealed in recent Snapshots, from a new monster, to decorative stone fences, and the awesome beacon block. Something that's been drawing a lot of attention lately is decorative heads - such as the skeleton, creeper, and zombie - which can be placed like a sign, to gloat over victories achieved in combat. Recently, Dinnerbone posted the picture above, strongly suggesting the possibility of player-dropped heads.
Will they fall in combat? Can they only be added for adventure maps? Time will tell.

I really hope you are being sarcastic, otherwise... learn how to detect obvious sarcasm.
They also wont be dropping from players in multiplayer , but it doesn't mean someone wont make a plugin for it.
wtf is this
*facepalm* he/she is showing how some of the latest features are useful, contrary to what the person who he/she replied to said. It's the 21st century. You have to learn to understand sarcasm.
*facedesk* those are just regular heads. Player heads aren't added yet.
Hmm. Neither have I. He's probably just some obscure, unknown, youtuber.
You know these updates most people who just want to play Minecraft with mods shouldn't be playing. In fact these aren't even updates. Just test releases. Only people who want to test and find out all the bugs should be playing. If you want your mods just go back to regular vanilla minecraft untill the official update comes out.... o.o
No, mob heads currently don't use them. Zombies, Skeletons, and Wither Skeletons can currently use the hat layer, but they did not program mob head items to use the hat layer like their mobs do, so in some packs that have mobs that look more 3D, the mob head item is messed up.
If you don't agree to put some new adds on the updates, why you don't make your OWN mod for place your OWN ideas? the mojang work in a LOT of games, isn't easy to control all games on 1 week...
I found one potato smiling! i will place a name on you...
how about: joker potato?
Thats a quite simple answer to your problem. Just retexture the bottom of the head to be the same as the 3d part of the head. So its still 3d but the decoration heads still look like the mob, except not 3d.

Of course they do, it's a freaking company. Also your English is superb, a plus to persuade someone, you sure changed my view Hah *sarcasm*. Notch did fine on his own working on Minecraft.
Face the reality, not everyone likes these stupid updates that only the minority are going to use, and for the rest of us well.. Then it's shoved in our face, and the community goes against me for having an opinion, and they accept these updates as if they were created by a God. Jeb seriously lacks development skills, I mean, he can't even think of his own ideas and listens to 10 year old's who bought Minecraft last week.
Notch you were and always will be the true developer of Minecraft.
This wouldn't work. The bottom layer is different, so when you're at different angles you see something different. Notice how on vonDoomcraft's Zombie, the brain and eye sockets go past what is visible directly is in from of the mob. This is so when you see the detail from the side, you see "in" the texture, and it doesn't immediately stop.
If you do what you're saying, the mob would appear "doubled" or similar, like the skeleton would have 2 layers of skull, and the zombie would have skin on the inside of his head, which would look very odd.
It's not an easy fix for artists; It is an easy fix for Mojang.
