- A new scary decoration block
- The “secret” from previous snapshots is now spawnable
- A new mob variant in the Nether
- Minor changes to the leather dye (the colors will attempt to maintain intensity, and not dilute as much)
- The “work in progress block” is now called “Beacon”
- Carrot on a stick!
- And, of course, numerous bug fixes

What goodies have you found in this week's Snapshot? Tell us about it!
I've noticed these as well.
I've been looking for something like this, you have my thanks!
Who needs horses when now you can control a pig with it!
I wish they would add some of the other stuff from that mod though. Some furniture, cupboards, and general decorations would be nice. I guess the planter/flowerpot was also added that could be said to come from this same mod, so I guess there is some hope for a chair you can sit in for vanilla minecraft.
I also love the fridge and the grandfather clock. Anyway, certainly more decorations would be nice to have no matter what, especially if Mojang plans on using Minecraft as an urban planning tool. See also this tweet via Notch (he retweeted it yesterday):

I would have to think Mojang is going to add some extra flourishes just to support such a project in terms of interior design pieces. Just some food for thought, particularly since so much seems to be coming from Jammy780's mod.
I call that flattery. While it is a common misconception that Mojang can take anything somebody is doing in a mod and appropriate it into Minecraft, I would be grateful for anything I do in a mod might possibly get incorporated into vanilla Minecraft. One mod I wrote I even expect that it should... mainly because it is a bug patch that Mojang should be fixing anyway.
If Mojang is taking stuff from mods though, they should be at least giving attribution to the original mod developers in some way... particularly if they are fairly popular mods like Jammy's Furniture mod. I don't know if the Baby Animal mod developer got credit, but that is another particuarly well designed mod that was incorporated into vanilla Minecraft that should have been credited.
Nether Stars.
A use for Soul Sand.
Withers and Wither Skeletons.
New painting of a Wither.
Real Beacon Block texture and crafting recipe.
Dyeing (again)
Decoration Blocks.
Carrots on a stick.
Now all we need is a use for Endstone (other than decoration) and I'll be happy. Whether I like these features and will always use them is unknown, but they do seem cool.
I'll keep playing because there's nothing that can compete..... but don't expect me to be happy about the new snapshot
Yep.
I'm somewhat disappointed that the Wither only drops a component to the Beacon. I never did think that the Beacon made much sense in Survival mode, unless you've been caving like mad just to get all the mineral to supply yourself with buffers from the Beacon.
I could not find any in already generated Nether Forts, but found them quickly in a newly generated Nether Fort. They don't seem to spawn that often, and I only saw maybe a dozen over about an hour of play. No heads dropped, but I got one stone sword. I saw a couple of regular skeletons spawn as well.
I also saw blazes spawning without a spawner, which never happened in my old Nether Forts. Lots of magma slimes too.
*Epic M. Bison face*
The point is, it looks fine on my mobs, but not the head items.
Some people use a separate layer of the mob files to make them more 3D, which makes them much more interesting, and it is more creative, and almost gives the illusion that the mobs aren't drawn onto a simple 3D model. Especially the skeleton skull, where on the mob it actually looks like a skull with a jaw, instead of a white box.
All Jeb_ would have to do is make it so the mob head items load the hat layer from their respective mob textures, if that extra layer is used, which on Skeletons, Zombies, Players, and wither skeletons, it is. The creeper does not use the extra layer. (Oh, and Zombie pigmen use it in vanilla, if it were to have a head item, you would just see a pig skull)
For anyone who didn't see my original comment:
The Wither Isn't Overpowered At All....It's Not Supposed To Be A 5 Second Mob Kill, But Rather A Boss...And Villages Have Been Improved Heavily, With Introductions Of Trading, Iron Golems, More Crops Spawn, And Different Locations Now. Minecraft Always Had Mobs And Features, So Not Expanding On That Would Be Pointless. Minecraft Is Going Into A More Steady Direction. If You Don't Like The New Stuff, Don't Use It...If You Really Hate It, Stay In Your "Simple Game With Blocks" Version. All In All, I Don't Agree With Your Points At All Because I Don't See Any Non-Selfish Logic To It....
