Server: Download
Yes, modders and texture pack artists can breathe a sigh of relief: the 1.3 Pre-Release is finally here! Rather than cover every nuance of the previous Snapshots, let's look at the most salient changes in 1.3:
- The game now runs an internal server in single-player mode
- The single-player server can be shared on LAN, with LAN server detection
- Made it possible to use client-side commands by enabling cheats (this is defaulted as disabled for old worlds)
- Added an optional “bonus chest” to get started quicker
- It’s now possible to trade with villagers. Added emeralds as a currency
- You gain enchantment orbs from other tasks than just destroying monsters. Max enchantment level has been decreased to 30
- Servers can automatically suggest and distribute texture packs
- Added new world map elements (does not need a new map, but they’ll only appear in new areas)
- Added cocoa beans
- Added an Ender chest
- Added tripwire
- Stairs and levers can be placed up-side-down
- Wooden logs can be placed sideways
Additionally, Mojang is hosting a special contest! What is it about? Well, let's hear what they have to say:
That is pretty sweet! Think you have what it takes to make a 30-second 1.3 commercial? Give it a shot - you just might win!

MCX360 Fix Incoming - Pistons & More
MCX360 will be getting a fix in the near future, with a particular focus on piston-related crashes, some rendering issues, and a host of other minor bugs. The fix may take up to two weeks for deployment, but once it does, it will automatically update the MCX360 client on its own. Keep an eye here for future updates!
Sometimes also when saving and quiting. The game will save back to a previous save and basically takes you back in time. Also when loading up a world. The game glitches from the loading screen and the main menu. But still loads up.

Thanks in Advance.

If you cannot get the pre-release to work, report it on the known bugs wiki page.
Jeb cannot fix it, and make it work, if the problem is not reported.
There are so many problems being listed on the wiki right now that I'd be very surprised to see it released as-is.
It is *NOT* a ".zip". You are downloading a ".jar".
If your browser is renaming the download, get rid of IE and get firefox.
Download the file -- a .jar -- as is, save it as-is.
Replace the entire old minecraft.jar with the new minecraft.jar
Your loot/cobblestone is NOT vanishing. The server is combining drops in close proximity to easy the amount of lag those entities create. These "stacks" still contain the same amount of drops. You are still getting the correct amount of items.
Honestly, this needs to be in the official changelog, as so many people are getting confused by this.

What am I missing?
Nothing. Just keep trying to open it (whenever I keep trying, it always works.

and the single player lag....is there ANY reason for this NONSENSE!?!?!?!
Also, you guys can download this for an adventure map I made! There's a link in my signature! It uses Written Books instead of signs!
Oh, such a coincidence! This update enhanced my adventure map!
How goddamn braindead do you have to be? Seriously? I try to avoid flaming here but sweet jegus how thick must you be to dislike having things sorted? It's inconvenient for maybe the first 5, 10 minutes of using it, until you learn where everything is, then it's WAY faster and more efficient. Plus there's not an easy way to access survival inventory and there's the search box now!
Bloody idiots have to complain about the stupidest things... bloody hell.
