MineTV Debuts Tomorrow, with special guest: Marc Watson!
Everyone loves a good mod spotlight, texture pack review, or awesome video - what could possibly be better? How about all 3 at once, and more, LIVE? If the idea of high-profile guests, the latest in Minecraft entertainment, community interviews and features interests you, read on.
MineTV - a new livestream show - will be shown every Wednesday at 9:00pm EST (GMT -5), starting this Wednesday, July 25th! This isn't any ordinary livestream, however; We have hand-built a TV studio, complete with stage, working green-screen, and stands for audience members. Users will not only be able to watch the interviews, reviews and more on the stream itself, but limited numbers of people will be a part of the live studio audience as well!
We mentioned guests on the show, but what kind of guests? Anyone the community has an interest in, of course! High profile video makers, modders, texture pack makers, and more - this week's special guest is none other than Mojang's Marc Watson!
Want to be a part of the live studio audience for the first episode, and get your name forever written in the annals of livestream history? Shoot us an email at [email protected], with the following information filled out:
- In-game name
- One question you would ask Marc Watson of Mojang, if you could
- Age
- Country of origin
That's all you need to do! If you are accepted, you will receive an email with all the info you need to connect to the studio server.
Want to take a tour of the studio before the show? You can visit us on the studio test server all day today! Details are below - we look forward to seeing everyone, and thanks for supporting MineTV!

Mists of Pandaria Poll
We have a quick poll at the top of the thread (If you're reading this on the front page, you can see it by clicking here) - are you excited about WoW's Mists of Pandaria? Vote in the poll and let us know!
The Prerelease is today not tomorrow, this thread was posted Yesterday. So prerelease is today!
snapshot for to day is starting to sound unlikely
though that log thing IS pretty sweet. anyone notice any new bugs from this?
I knowright!... but srsly I think the mod APT was the big thing they where working on for 1.3 so that should be epic.
What Mojang did:
Strongly decreased the amount of enchantment orbs you get from furnaces
What should have been done:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1354157-proposal-complete-rebalance-of-xp-system/
Bottom line: Smelting NON-ORE should be as valuable as killing passive mobs.
Smelting ORE should be as valuable as mining ORE.
ORE, not killing MOBS, should be the dominant source of XP.
The cost to go up levels should be rescaled to match.
If you get 5 XP for killing mobs, then perhaps you should be getting 3-5 XP per iron or coal block. If that makes XP too fast for the current system, then change it from 17 per level to 40 or 50 per level.
Make mobs a secondary factor, and mining -- which requires going into new, dangerous areas -- the dominant.
Bad Mojang. Bad Deathbringer. (Anyone else read MissMab/DMFA?)
===
Rotating logs: Geez, right after Bunyan does it, differently, incompatibly. Sheesh :-).
Seriously: I want to be able to rotate ANY block that I can place. Alright, maybe I need silk touch to rotate stone or ore.
===
Slabs: I want my wood-colored stone slabs to look different than my new real wood slabs. Or, have a way to convert all the wood-colored stone slabs to real wood slabs.
Heck, if we have wood-colored stone slabs as official, real, won't change blocks, then let me craft new ones, in all the colors of the wood-bow. (New wood type add-on people, pay attention to that.)
I'm also on a Mac, that isn't an excuse since my fps is the same
this is a classic example of someone not knowing what they are talking about. they made it so things such as stone, wood, or anything else smelt-able have a reduced XP value where as ores and other valuables in the field have already been increased from their old levels. this means that people cannot just mine five tonnes of cobblestone and get 100 levels for it. this also means but does not necessarily state that the values of iron and gold have been lowered. however this has not been said and it is possible that both gold and iron hold their respective old XP smelting values.
anyways... now that i have gotten my ten cents out of the way... good work Mojang! keep it up!
EDIT: I also think there need to be more armor and weapon types. Like, more metals. I don't know, I just like upgrading and upgrading my materials and stuff in games, but then I hit the end in a few days and I make a face like this:
Then why have placeable torches at all?
But I suspect that dynamic lighting like that -- that has to change every time the player moves -- might be very demanding on the game. And for a relative little gain. Unless it's not, 'cause I'm not really that computer-oriented. If it's not, sure. If it is, not worth it.
