MCX360 Sells Over Two Million, Fixes Arrive Soon
That's right, Mojang and 4J Studios' Xbox 360 edition of indie hit Minecraft recently sold more than two million units worldwide on XBLA! MCX360 sells for 1600 MS Points, or $20 - Notch tweeted the day after launch that the game had become profitable (saw more money gained in sales than spent in creating it) within the first full day of sales, a figure that continues to climb exponentially.
Microsoft Studios, while initially non-specific about the sales numbers after launch day, confirmed that MCX360 broke all previous sales records on Live Arcade, beating out the previous fastest-selling game on the platform, Trials Evolution, which sold over 100,000 copies in a day, by over four times the numbers.
As popular as MCX360 has become, it shouldn't surprise anyone that many people have been requesting bug fixes and updates to the console ported sandbox blockbuster. Fortunately, according to 4J Studios' 4JSteve, fixes are on the way in approximately 3 weeks.
Lets see, 2,000,000 times 20 is 40 mil? I think I read that wrong, numbers are so dang tiny!
Minecraft is awesome
i would tell u blankly what the problem is, but it's preffered and most likely more practical if i walkthrough all that happened;
so i was playing the newest snapshot, 12w22a, trying to find a jungle temple. After much exploring, the game crashed, closed, and pooped out a hs_err_pid document, which happens sometimes. i thought nothing of it. i tried to reload the world to find...there isn't one. all there is is void. i thought maybe it was still loading with the new smp + ssp thing but after flying to the height ground would be (it crash while i was flying in the sky) it didn't load, i started flying everywhere to the viod to the height limit. after a minute of flying around an empty world i tried to type "/gamemode 0" to switch, as maybe if i died it would respawn me in the happily generated area in which i started from. it didn't respond like it would when loading terrian and such. a few months before i noticed a red message below the render distance option (i keep mine on far) saying: your using a 32 bit version of java, u should use a 64 bit version for using far. so i decided just to uninstall java, and reinstall 64 bit. long story short, i couldn't find 64 bit so i reinstalled the version i was using. i openned minecraft, and clicked login. it loaded for a while then a error message came up reading: java(TM) Platform SE binary [minecraft] has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem. After a while the "solution" was close the program. ive tried reinstalling java several times, deleting the entire bin folder (but soon discovered that since it was only the launcher, it did nothing), playing minecraft in browser (same error), and restarting my windows 7 pc. (BTW i cant play offline because u have to fail logging in to minecraft.net for the option to present itself, so that wont fix a thing. other things that require java work fine, i tried play Notch's "Prelude of the Chambered", which i knew needed java, to test it. worked downright spiffy. i've tried forcing update, but since it wont even get past the login it doesn't do anything.)
please comment ANYTHING u think would help!
java is updated to newest
running on Windows 7 32 bit PC
3 GB of RAM
*And please, don't give me default image when I'm viewing this topic again*
Try getting a cracked client that will allow play offline without the game trying to login to minecraft.
No. that would mean that at each interval of measurement the sales figures would be the previous multiplied over by itself. This is not occuring. You might accurately be able to say "a figure that continues to multiply" or "a figure that is adding up quickly", but "exponentially" is not accurate.
But wouldn't it be cool if it did grow exponentially?
Also, I'm waiting to see MC beat MW3 aka creativity beating mindless shooting and violence. NOTE: I'm fine with (virtual) violence, but not the mindless part. Just making that clear. MineCraft FTW!
I wonder why so many haven't bought Minecraft?
I know mine hasn't counted yet because the purchase system is so terrible...
Anyway, well done Mojang.
