Every one of us picked our Minecraft user name when we signed up on minecraft.net for the first time (and every time thereafter). For most of us, knowing that whatever name was chosen is stuck with us forever is just a part of the game. Still, what if you gave yourself a silly or inappropriate name? What if you're just tired of the one you have? Currently, this means getting another copy of the game - but maybe not for long.
Jeb hinted that username changes might be a feature in the near future, something that Mollstam is looking into currently. While there is no set date - or even a hinted one - for the feature's arrival, it would seem that it's more a matter of "when" than "if" now.
Maybe I can use this opportunity to change my name to "MrFluffykins".

Wiki Skin Overhaul
For years, the Minecraft Wiki has followed the same visual format as many wikis - it's a tried and true look, after all. For one user - namely, Ultradude25, an administrator on the wiki - this just wasn't good enough. Leading the effort to revamp the wiki's appearance, the community has given Minecraft's most popular wiki a complete make-over - head on over and check it out!
Minecraft Wiki will seem quite familiar to forum regulars - keep in mind however, that the visual re-design was done entirely by volunteers! It is, in many ways, another reminder of just how strong the Minecraft community is, and how far it reaches. It's hard to think of another gaming community with such strong dedication, passion and sense of unity. Congratulations to Ultradude25, and everyone who helped him out on this incredibly ambitious project!
I'd also suggest changing the ban system as well so an admin just bans a display name and the server software will ban the 'Unique ID' for them instead of some other process which would take too much time if they are, for example, spamming and you want to ban them before they crash the server from lag. Also I suggest doing the same thing with OP commands.
As well as this I suggest adding a command available to all players that lets them check someone's 'Unique ID' so that they can tell if it is really their friend or not.
Mojang should have a special User ID of a player (like mine: "psychoelectro").
It will be the user ID which people will use to whitelist, OP, and else...
But the display name? it can change anytime...
That's what I was at least hoping.
Besides, you can't change your root name (username, in this case), can you?
10,000 posts!
We should've one. I believe it'd be the counter of registered/paid account...like er, 'you're the Xth person to register an account!'.
But you shouldn't be able to change your actual Minecraft ID name. As stated before, griefers/spammers can get around the banning system.
In addition to the unique ID for every player, admins should be able to run a command to see any previous usernames the player has had.
Agreed?
This is a feature of Steam, if you have a friend added to your Steam network, you can view their previous 'aliases'. Being able to view another players alias would be great in terms if you are an admin or mod, but the problem is, they would have to set up something similar to the Steam Community websites that lead you to peoples user ID and profile. To imitate this in-game would be hard, just programming the ability to change your name in-game would be easier.
Like the griefers teams, they will change their name to grief servers again. Hope you see my point.
users will have a username. what it currently is (for banning etc)
they also have a display name, what is what people see in-game
therefore, no cheating your way out of bans etc.
AND, you can only change it one time
I want to change my name from gologan13 to Yeti
Ex Person Name : Testificate
And then he change To A different Name
New Name: Sheep
Can He Change his name back to Testifcate?
And then Change back to His new Name
Because
it Should act like this because a Player Should have 2 names Per Profile
However the feature is going to be implemented, it should be. I know this may sound silly, but someone can impersonate your account by using your name and then do whatever the heck you want.
Then again, this is flawed by the skin.
i gotta say, people compliment my name a lot. i guess i just came up with something that worked well, so i stuck with it.
