Every one of us picked our Minecraft user name when we signed up on minecraft.net for the first time (and every time thereafter). For most of us, knowing that whatever name was chosen is stuck with us forever is just a part of the game. Still, what if you gave yourself a silly or inappropriate name? What if you're just tired of the one you have? Currently, this means getting another copy of the game - but maybe not for long.
Jeb hinted that username changes might be a feature in the near future, something that Mollstam is looking into currently. While there is no set date - or even a hinted one - for the feature's arrival, it would seem that it's more a matter of "when" than "if" now.
Maybe I can use this opportunity to change my name to "MrFluffykins".

Wiki Skin Overhaul
For years, the Minecraft Wiki has followed the same visual format as many wikis - it's a tried and true look, after all. For one user - namely, Ultradude25, an administrator on the wiki - this just wasn't good enough. Leading the effort to revamp the wiki's appearance, the community has given Minecraft's most popular wiki a complete make-over - head on over and check it out!
Minecraft Wiki will seem quite familiar to forum regulars - keep in mind however, that the visual re-design was done entirely by volunteers! It is, in many ways, another reminder of just how strong the Minecraft community is, and how far it reaches. It's hard to think of another gaming community with such strong dedication, passion and sense of unity. Congratulations to Ultradude25, and everyone who helped him out on this incredibly ambitious project!
your minecraft friends might not recognize you anymore, and you might not recognize them. i personnally hope this does not happen, but thats just my opinion

Hey <name>, the user stats of <Old user name> have changed. See this.
UserID: 0584967398
Old user name: (Let's say this is me who changed my name, so) jtdemille
New name: _JtDemille_Minecraft_
Add to friends list? <y or n>
And then they would press y or n for yes or no. The user gets a notification and confirms with y or n. That brings us to friends list! When the username of a friend changes or email, they automatically get a notification. Servers would kick or ban with user IDs. Also, users can bring up a friends overlay that talks about their friend's activity on MC right now.
Maybe I would change my name to something better like:
CaptainObviousMan (Lol, no, just kidding.)
Saperhond (Think of the weirdest names and it makes you sound professional sometimes.)
Inhaco (WEIRDEST NAME!)
As I said in parentheses near "Saperhond", "Think of the weirdest names and it makes you sound professional sometimes."
It is true! On Roblox, for example. I met somebody named Incohatus! I've met people named Evorsor! Just that kind of name is cool! Anyways, I really do vote for this name changing this that Mojang is said to be developing.
I VOTE YES!
My name will be Team Fortress 2 related. Hoovy, maybe ?
People should be intelligent enough to tell the difference between the Real person and a Clone.
If they don't, then they are incredibly dumb.
For those saying we should pay for the name change, It will never happen. Mojang isn't stupid enough to charge for a name change. It would cause way Way too many problems. I can see a name change once every three months.
You mean an unchangeable id tagged to the player. When you name ban someone it checks what their permanent id is and bans that id. Bit more inefficient but not much more than a dynamic dns. Which many servers have without anything noticeable.
I'd say like, once every 4-6 months so that you don't just keep constantly changing your name.

The new launcher supports multiple-minecraft-per-account, so we can go live with that soon hopefully.\
@TheOnlyRealTGS Nothing would change vs how it is now; you can still buy multiple accounts now, it would just be easier to manage later.
Seems cool...but people will abuse it too much. For example, if they join a game with a innapropiate name, then leave the game, change there name and skin, no one will no they did it.
