Every one of us picked our Minecraft user name when we signed up on minecraft.net for the first time (and every time thereafter). For most of us, knowing that whatever name was chosen is stuck with us forever is just a part of the game. Still, what if you gave yourself a silly or inappropriate name? What if you're just tired of the one you have? Currently, this means getting another copy of the game - but maybe not for long.
Jeb hinted that username changes might be a feature in the near future, something that Mollstam is looking into currently. While there is no set date - or even a hinted one - for the feature's arrival, it would seem that it's more a matter of "when" than "if" now.
Maybe I can use this opportunity to change my name to "MrFluffykins".

Wiki Skin Overhaul
For years, the Minecraft Wiki has followed the same visual format as many wikis - it's a tried and true look, after all. For one user - namely, Ultradude25, an administrator on the wiki - this just wasn't good enough. Leading the effort to revamp the wiki's appearance, the community has given Minecraft's most popular wiki a complete make-over - head on over and check it out!
Minecraft Wiki will seem quite familiar to forum regulars - keep in mind however, that the visual re-design was done entirely by volunteers! It is, in many ways, another reminder of just how strong the Minecraft community is, and how far it reaches. It's hard to think of another gaming community with such strong dedication, passion and sense of unity. Congratulations to Ultradude25, and everyone who helped him out on this incredibly ambitious project!

/whois using a player name, a recently logged in player name, or an account name, would all work to show which player(s) currently have that name AND also the other names for that account. So if "Bob" logs out, then goes to change his name then log back in as "MisterX", doing /whois Bob would give a screen with that kind of info:
Account [myaccountforgriefingtrollz]:
2013-06-01@17h47:2013-06-01@17h59 Bob
2013-06-03@11h58:2013-06-04@01h28 MisterX
Account [Bob]

Yeah, hope Mojang hasnt forgotten it
If yes send me a video of how to change our name please.Thank you.
Mojang doesn't personally have to change your name, it's done by computers, just like changing your password.
It's not possible yet, but it might be when the new launcher comes out.
Yeah I like that idea.
Why? I think maybe there should be a report option like in cod where you can report players for hacking (not mods but like hacking mojang or something), offensive or inappropriate player names, and inappropriate or offensive skins. if you think so too.
Each person can have only 1 ip per computer. Servers can already ban people through their ip. Rather than their name. However. This means that everyone that uses that computer is banned. And they can access it from a friend's computer. I like this permanent id thing.
Although this could cause lag. But no more than getting a dynamic Dns host name. Which isn't much. When you ban someone. It looks through the mojang database and looks up the id for the person and bans the id.
Don't spam
Just my opinion
