Today we went through an extended period of maintenance to perform updates to the forum, these were essential performance upgrades that have also brought some changes to the overall layout and functionality of the forum.
Please reply to this post including any bugs or problems you find with the forum, include as much information as possible to allow us to fix them promptly.
Thanks, we appreciate everyone's patience through the maintenance period.
They've clearly stated that they spent MONTHS testing this stuff. MONTHS. Of hard testing.
Therefore: every "problem" we're seeing right now is in fact "Working As Intended", by their own statements.... unless their testing department consists of a room full of third-graders.
This whole update is basically a gigantic Screw You to all their users. Very professional, Curse. Very competent. Well done.
I second this. Many people in the texture pack community used this section for extra information such as the theme of the pack or updates. Removing this is detrimental to the community. Honestly who cares when the thread was made. If you need that information look at the first post. It doesn't need to show under the thread title.
Seems like a lot of things have changed, some for the best, others not so much. This thread serves as a reminder towards what can be improved.
First of all the avatars are the biggest issue but according to Alexia that will be fixed in the near future.
Moving on:
The new posting layout in general seems a bit clunkier than the past one, things were simply slicker. The name fonts are too big right now to the point that there's some clipping issues as seen here:
-snip-
Some BBcode seems to be broken as seen here:
-snip
The general aesthetic of the posts seems a bit off, in the past we had the quote buttons to the right (IIRC) and the report to moderator under the avatar in its own header. It made things cleaner looking and more easy to the eye, now all the 3 buttons are meshed together in the center of the post making it more untidy and diverting attention from the post, this is more noticable in short posts:
-snip
An idea would be putting the report button under the avatar again and the other ones to the right. If that's even possible.
Regarding profiles, where did the comment section even go?
Creating new topics seems more constricted, you have a tiny box to write your topic, in comparison to the previous one its a big change for the worse as seen here:
-snip-
This clipping in the post title also seems weird and is throwing my OCD off:
-snip
The avatars and profile pictures traded each other for some reason so my avatar is now my profile picture as seen here:
-snip
Another thing is the icons for pinned threads. We can't tell which is which so far:
-snip
Good things:
This thing right here is awesome and needs to stay. It makes quotes so much easier and less clumsier:
-snip-
The profiles are generally improved even though I can't find the comment section for the life of me so I'm guessing it was removed.
The profiles really are great can't state that enough, they look much slicker than previously, I really like the About Me popping up right when you go to someone's profile, like a little bio.
The layout is an improvement in general, feels more stylized and slicker yet simplified (which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I'm quoting this because it was useful feedback and I want to make sure it gets seen.
On another note I have been running into something annoying since the update yesterday. I read through this thread to make sure it hadn't been reported and lo and behold it hadn't.
Occasionally an ad will appear in the quick reply box. I have ads enabled because I believe in supporting websites I visit and some ad companies do not count people who use ad blocker. The problem is that whenever an ad appears in the quick reply box I cannot input text. This is only a minor problem because I can still reply through the reply button at the top. However, this is a bug that needs fixing.
In case you need a visual of what I am talking about here it is.

No profile pic or signature, slows down my computer (which is never slow), and this from before.
Ruined everything about my post on my map, f**ked up my signature, removed the videos from my post, scrambled all my formatting, the videos disappear when i edit the post, it is laggy as hell, it doesn't register some of my typing, makes my profile comments look like i posted them, wont let me load the interface, uses WAY too much memory, and i cant see who is viewing my post.
Also randomly hits the home button, and will not let me hit enter. This "upgrade" sucks hairy balls, for lack of a better term.
The admins should have thought this upgrade through more. They should have known that the one thing that the Minecraft Forums can do best is complain about changes.
I agree with everything posted above, and I didn't realize the mods were so childish as to delete any posts containing criticism.
It wasn't that... Alexia wrote a big long thing about how much work they'd put into the update and how careful they were being about making sure everything was working and that they didn't just roll out untested software in a herpty-derpty clown car. And now that gigantic holes have been burned in that feeble assertion, they've deleted it so no one can go back and prove they lied.
I don't know if there was an issue with the image formats before the update, but I would like it if the forums could support both image layouts. If there was an issue, I agree with the change. However, if there was none, dual format support would make it easier for people to read posts with the images broken. Some people have stopped updating the OP's of there posts. Also, there is sometimes useful information in replies that the author has forgotten about

Exactly.

V Click my signature.
What's up with text selection? Black is ugly.
Increasing editor size is buggy. (Confirmed on Safari and Chrome)
New notifications have white background, which breaks them.
Usernames aren't centered over the avatar.
Most of my settings went missing. (notes? topics per page? and more...)
Long usernames clip into the post area.
Need I say more?
Avatars are gone too...
Schadenfreude is tasty.
Schadensfreude ist die beste Freude *g*

Now the Login Box at the Top is bringing a timeout "The Website loops the request"
The clouds arent moving!

New members to the forums cannot reply to an old thread. We've been experiencing this, and I've confirmed with a second account.
