Feature Leak for Upcoming Snapshot

Jeb has released a teaser image for this week's upcoming Snapshot - upside-down stairs! They can be placed by simply placing a normal stair against the bottom of a block, most easily done from below the block in question. Decorators will no doubt benefit from the new change - I plan to redo my ceilings accordingly.

Last week's Snapshot covered a medley of updates - while a few new features were added, a large volume of the update was dedicated to engine tweaks, file format optimization and other updates to improve the overall performance of the game. What awaits this week - aside from the improved stairs - remains a mystery. We will update the community with all the juicy details of the upcoming Snapshot, so keep an eye out!

Wel, that's nice. Should help to liven things up a little, especially since you could make a plaid ceiling or something like that.
I would like to mention that it's not really a leak when the lead developer releases teaser images.

What, is Steve? going to grow four hands and an extra head next? It's a core part of the game- mods are for that, not vanilla updates.

I've used it, and searched for hours in flying mode looking for caves... Never found one, not even a SMALL one. So... if they are going to be that rare just take them out completely. You are going to have people complain either way you go. However if you kept it how it was, or even maybe a little bit more rare. You may not get so many complaints. I'm not saying I'd like there to be 5 caves within 200 blocks of each other. I'm just saying it should not be as rare as it seems to be. I spent 2-4 hours in fly mode using x-ray and STILL didn't find a cave... thats WAY too rare.

Actually I'm fine with him copying from mods, means I don't have to go and download them and "install" them. I'd rather it just be in the game by default.

Even if all Jeb did was take the "best of..." features from the modding community, that would be a heck of a lot of work. There are far more modders and "fans" with cool ideas than there are employees at Mojang, and there are some awfully good mods which are "out there".

Besides, if Jeb does get a creative streak, he certainly can add stuff into the game. On top of that, Mojang has shown that they are willing to give proper credit to the modding community when something of this nature is taken and put into the game.

I fail to see the problem here.

There's not much brainpower involved in visualizing a stair turned upsidedown. There's nothing original in whatever mod you claim to be original. Ever seen "The Labyrinth", or related?

Caves will be fixed, along with the lighting glitch (and hopefully some other glitched caused by the new world format) by next week at the latest.

I don't blame Jeb for not doing these fixes this week, he was occupied with Mojam and Lego World, lol.
