The Week 49 Snapshot was recently released for testing! As with prior weekly "snapshots", this must be installed over an existing minecraft.jar file in order to be tested out. What's new in this test version?
- Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
- Farmland is no longer destroyed by items and particles
- Added multiple languages
- Corrected a setTileEntity multiplayer bug
- Corrected a powered rail bug
- Corrected a redstone update bug
Eager to test out these new features? You can grab the snapshot client right here; SMP server hosts can test these out in multiplayer as well; get the server jar right here! To use these, you need to replace the jar file in the application folder and then start the game normally. Find a bug? Report them here!
Pertaining to language support, Jeb had the following to add:
Quote fromI would like to give a huge THANKS to all of you who helped out translating the game, and to the Minecraft Coder Pack team for helping out with the administration of the language files. Also a big thanks to Ryan ‘Scaevolus’ Hitchman for help with the Unicode rendering.
The language files are still work in progress, so translation errors and mistakes may still exist. As stated earlier, the snapshots are in development versions of the game.
________
Download this week's "snapshot" files below:- Game client: Download here!
- Server client: Download here!
You should remove that from the bug list.
It's ok if Jeb doesn't really know, I'm just looking for a "weekly snapshot update with a monthly official update" kind of thing or something...
Looks like Jeb has funneled all his energy into minecraft after becoming lead developer. I'm not bashing Notch or anything, but he did seem to be getting more and more lax. Let's hope Jeb doesn't burn out too quickly!
**** yeah.
To me, it seems like "weekly snapshots no matter what, and if we have a stable release with enough new content or bugfixes to justify it (and it doesn't have major bugs of its own), then we'll push an official release".
I'm also kind of hoping for a new official release soon... Really want to play Minecraft in Japanese, but I also really need OptiFine if I want to be able to record the game (laptop user, can't get the >40fps required for CamStudio without it), and also Millenaire. Both mods obviously dependent on MCP, and I can completely understand why the MCP team won't do Pre-Releases or Weekly Snapshots (it takes a few days to manually deobfuscate everything, and by the time they finish 11w49a, 11w50a would be out).
Mista Epic: No, 1.0.0 mods are incompatible with Weekly Snapshots. The obfuscation scheme is different. (I think it might be the same between snapshots, based on .class filesizes, but between 1.0.0 and 11w47a it's very different.)
