Simon Lane (better known to Yogscast fans as Honeydew) has issued a response to recent statements regarding Yogscasts' alleged behavior at Minecon. They seemed somewhat confused and dismayed at statements regarding their behavior, stating that they were "surprised and confused about where this stuff has come from - especially since the only time we spoke to Notch was at the interview." Further comments by Simon emphasized happiness that they were able to connect to fans directly, and that the Yogscast crew were disappointed that they couldn't sign and meet every fan present.
Both sides of the dispute seem to point only to two tired parties having a minor misunderstanding, which is already clearing up. You can view the entire statement by Yogscastright here!
UPDATE: Notch has responded to the Yogscast's recent statement, noting that the situation is likely a "stress-related misunderstanding." He has apologized for his earlier comments, and seems as eager as the Yogscast crew to put the misunderstanding behind him.
unless he lied, which all rational parties still consider a possibility.
On the contrary, assuming he lied is not a rational assumption at all.
Assuming he was mistaken and spoke out of turn due to a mixture of hearsay, alcohol and tiredness couple with his already proven inability to do PR... sure.
But flat out lying? What could he POSSIBLY have to gain from that? It's possibly the LEAST rational of all arguments.
When I hear yogscast it immediately jumps to negative connotations in my head BEFORE notch ever tweeted anything about them. therefore his tweets Seem more believable to me that what yogs wrote in rebuttal.
In other words, you are being subjective rather than objective. Using pre-determined notions of someone rather than the evidence portrayed in front of you.

acknowledging the possibility that he lied =/= assuming he lied.
and if you're asking for *speculation* on motive, I tend to think yogscast's reaction to minecraft's ending would qualify.
edit: @YukiChan(below): Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon would like a word with you.

Plus he's told three people that he hasn't lied. This would only give him much more trouble if there was proof that he was lying.

Unless, of course, you're willing to call Notch's character into question, calling him capable of risking splitting his playerbase in two in order to spite the Yogscast for their reaction to the ending and make them lose a few subscribers. Which is also not rational.
It's more likely that Notch overreacted to some hearsay whilst drunk and tired, tweeted things he shouldn't have done, and has now stepped so far over the line that he is desperately backtracking... but it's too late for the damage has already been done. Depending on your views, either he is the villain, or the Yogscast are. And both of these outcomes are not rational.
I will point out, however, that it's not the Yognaughts participating in DDoS attacks against Mojang. Make of that what you will.
In my opinion he doesn't need to, as it was the people whom decided what sides to take before the Yogscast even got the chance to reply.
Touché, I think I should have thought of that before I had posted, because when you get down to it all, the people who caused the DDOS and harassment were the ones who "jumped the gun."
In other words, you are being subjective rather than objective. Using pre-determined notions of someone rather than the evidence portrayed in front of you.
I pray that you never end up on jury duty.
everyone is subjective here. to say otherwise you would be lying. when someone talks about michael Jackson what is one of the First things that pops into your mind. He will always be known for touching children. what about milli vanilli?
I look at Notch's tweets and I see some truth there as he sees it. is he over-reacting YES but thats what he does. I look at Yogscast and immediately suspect them since they already have a bad reputation for my knowledge of them. It makes what they said more suspect. its the same thing a Jury has to determine of each and every witness in a court case.
How people act upon what Notch says is not on Notch, it is on the person(s) his/her/themselves. Notch shouldn't have to apologize for someone else's dumb behavior when he's already apologized on his part.
You're right, Notch should not apologize for the actions of others. What he should do is distance himself from the actions though. Notch is in no way responsible or liable for what people do, but the most likely culprit of the attacks on the Yogscast site come from people who took Notch's words to heart. He should come out with a short statement, even twitter would work, saying he doesn't support members of the minecraft community committing illegal acts against the Yogscraft people. At the very least, ask for civil discourse while he talks things over with the Yogscast after he apologized for airing everything publicly.
I see one of two things happening, 1st that somebody in the yogscast made a completely harmless joke, and it got passed along and after idk 5-10 mouths it was twisted into something completely different. (Or somebody has a personal grudge and sent that joke down the pipeline to create tension.)
2nd: A tired notch heard one thing when something else entirely was said. Happens to people all the time.
I'm suggesting nobody really knows what happened so, lets just relax and the truth will eventually come to the surface.
Touché, I think I should have thought of that before I had posted, because when you get down to it all, the people who caused the DDOS were the ones who "jumped the gun."
Yeah, they definitely did. ): It's all on them, and it's a shame they had to be so stupid. xP
Can't control everyone that follows you around..
I think I'm amongst the most rational people here. I love the Yogscast, but Notch is Notch. I love both sides and couldn't bear to have negative feelings against either side. I honestly think that this is just one big misunderstanding and i also think that they should both just put it behind them and everyone should forget it ever happened. I've been with Minecraft since before even Yogscast started playing it, and I KNOW Notch, not personally per-say but i KNOW he wouldn't tell such a crass lie. I also do think that as far as the Yogscast goes, there are (very few) times when they can seem a (tiny) bit stuck-upish. BUT I KNOW they would never behave the way Notch described. So the only logical conclusion I can make is it was just a miscommunication.

Except a jury... or OBJECTIVE thinker goes into each case with no preconceived notions otherwise there is a conflict of interest. By admitting that you immediately suspect the Yogscast because of your preconceived notions you are essentially saying that your opinion is biased and therefore irrational.
And since it is irrational, it is also irrelevant.

Yeah, sadly it happens all the time. It reminds me of the incident between the creator of "Better Than Wolves" mod and the Yogscast wanting it in their Yogbox. It ended up being a huge misunderstanding, and before anything was ever done about it between the two, a whole mess between the Yognaughts and people trying to calm them down erupted, which in the end remained useless because the creator had to say no because of the outrageous attitudes from the Yognaughts.. or as the creator called them; 'Yogaboos'. Lol

OK, let's look at this another way.
Let's assume that millions of people hang onto every word that I say. Let's also assume that I come up with some sort of... misconception about you (something that isn't true, but that I'd heard someone say and believed). For example, I question your sexuality or... I dunno, that you eat babies or something. As a direct result you are subjected to torrents of abuse from my legions of sheep like followers (see directly below for a perfect example of your average sheep), who endeavour to attack your business, harass you wherever you go and directly affect your income.
You would sue my ass into oblivion, would you not? Slander/libel laws exist for a reason, and to absolve Notch of any responsibility for his careless actions is naive at best.
I'm not suggesting that the Yogscast sue Notch at all, but come on... a proper apology is the LEAST they deserve for all of this.
