More Info on Minecraft iOS!

It would seem that we discovered the iOS Pocket Edition early! Originally set to be announced at Minecon, the iOS version of Minecraft PE - not even a week after being released - is already the top-grossing app worldwide! Mojang wanted to point out two important things about this version; that updates will be forthcoming, and it is compatible with the Android version!

The iOS version is currently a form of Creative mode, with 36 blocks available to build as players see fit. You can get it in the App Store right now for $6.99 USD. You'll need iOS 4.3 or later to run it properly, and be played both on the iPhone and iPad. Controls are entirely touch-screen based, and quite intuitive. Check it out!

I'm a little confused. So you mean it wasn't supposed to be released on the 17th? Oh and It's great to hear that the app is doing so well!

i hope its nothing like the other portable minecraft app(i forget which 1)
that was practicly worse than classic not even mobs

@pancho_villa_m Did you mean the unofficial Minecraft: World Explorer? Because that one was terrible.

overall the app is lacking so far, it is so stripped down that it is barley enjoyable, wait for a couple updates guys and a price drop.

Is it still only local multiplayer though? I appreciate the cross-platform, but hopefully they'll figure out regular online multiplayer too.

Will probably get at least one of the versions around Christmas, probably the Android one since it has a bigger screen.

The app is a little pricey right now ($6.99 US) but the allure of playing Minecraft on my iPhone didn't stop me from buying it! Granted it's just in creative mode but it does say its an Alpha build v0.1.2 right now. I did see some coal and iron ore while I've been playing so I hope that it's a hint towards a survival mode or at least crafting and actual "mining". A day/night cycle would be nice too but hey it's a work in progress.

its basically a minecraft classic. its really fun if you dont focus so much on the survival part, but the building part, which is the main part of the game

I wish they had mentioned it was only for 4.3 before I bought it. Oh well, finally an excuse to upgrade my old 2nd gen.
