We've just been let out of a special lunch with Notch and the rest of the Mojang team. The meal was also host to several members from Make A Wish foundation, along with Evan, a special MineCon attendee, who's wish was to attend MineCon.
Mojang has donated 100% of the $20,000 raised to the Make a Wish foundation, allowing them to grant 4 more wishes!
My level of respect for Mojang has increased exponentially. For an indie development team to be able to do something so extraordinary is truly a testament to how vastly different they are from the large corporations. Thanks Mojang!
So they get nearly a 10K wish, ffs, i havent had 10K of stuff i want in my 14 years, probably around 1K
Wow, what a big heart you have. Do you not realize that these wishes come from kids who are terminally ill and are usually not for stuff, but to go somewhere or do something with their family that will give them happiness during a time that's usually filled with pain, depression and hospitals?
since that person who made the comment was 14, perhaps they didn't realize exactly what Make-A-Wish was about...I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt
Mojang, what you did for Evan and those other four children was such a wonderful thing that I can't find the words to adequately express how incredible it is
thank you, guys & gals, and never let those hearts of yours harden
not gonna lie, i would have much rather waited to go to minecon now, than Disney World when i was young, hahaha, but i still appreciate what make-a-wish foundation does, and much respect to mojang for their contribution... as if minecraft wasn't enough of a gift to the world, and those who suffer illnesses, but mojang has to keep on giving :smile.gif:

They are people who have disability of some sort, where they can't live normal lives or kids who don't have much time to live, and like to do something that they always wanted to do.

Wow. You do know Make Wish grants seriously and terminally ill kids wishes. Apparently you also weren't there to see the young man's mother crying her eyes out when they invited him up on stage to meet Notch, the Curse rep, and Minecraft Chick to get a special Minecraft themed XBox 360. In fact I don't think there was a dry eye in the convention hall during that. Also I doubt the cost was close anywhere near 10k. Hotel for two of us was ~$350 and meals vary. I would be shocked if Mandalay Bay didn't comp their whole visit and the Mojang crew didn't provide them both with tickets. Maybe you should make sure you know what the hell you're talking about before spouting your stupidity for all to see.
wow, when i did the Make A Wish, i just chose to go to Disney world, because i wanted my family to enjoy it, even if i wouldn't. not to get me wrong, i did enjoy some of it, but their aren't vary safe rides for a kid in a wheelchair with glass for bones. if i had known about Minecraft, and Minecon then...i would have chosen to go, even if my family wouldn't have fun there...and good for you Mojang, that's awesome that you donated,if that means 4 other people get there wish, i wonder if 1 of those will be me...but i don't think i can make a wish twice...dangit...

wow, really, do you know that people who use the Make A Wish Foundation don't see a penny of that money? its ALL used to make that child happy, hell when Make A Wish came to my house and said i could do anything i wanted I said, (for my family) that i wanted to go to Disney Land in Florida, (I was 13). i got to stay at a beautiful resort called Give Kids the World, and got to go to every theme park in Florida for a week! btw, Give Kids the World was awesome, they had this massive tree that would, like talk, and you could go inside it into a giant 2 or 3 story library with a pillow maker. and they had a giant mushroom ice cream shop that served you whatever, and however much ice cream you wanted. but my favorite part was the dino-mini-golf with animatronic dinosaurs and a giant volcano that was lit by a black light so that the cave drawing on the inside would pop out. anyhow, sorry a bit of nostalgia, but what im saying is that these people that get there wishes are dieing, and get one last breath of a short life, ands its a wonderful breath of fresh air. hell, I was dieing from my arthritis, but shortly after i came back from the resort they created a medicine that would slow it down. and, before the resort, i never left the house because my body is brittle and just moving causes pain. no offense, but you might want to research a bit before opening your mouth.
you do know make a wish foundation is for terminally ill children and not poor people right?
Will it be more minecon next year?

Good job Mojang!
