Jeb recently released another iteration of 1.9 Pre-Release, which you can get right here. Included in this release are dragons, the "endgame" and bug-fixes for all bugs listed here marked with an "F". One new bug that came with the release is that wooden doors need redstone to open right now, but don't worry! It is a bug, and it is getting fixed. Give the new pre-release a spin here! Everyone needs to stop complaining about all the pre-releases.
The reason he does this is so all the bugs can be discovered before the next official release.
What would you rather have? A forced update that is full of bugs, or many small updates that aren't required that let you see the new features for future releases.
1.9 pre release 6 is worth it just for the ability to minimize particle rates, my game is flying now. As for the "wooden door issue"; I ported over my map, and put buttons and pressure plates down where I had doors, big whoop. So worth it! My minimap mod crashes the game, but I can live without it. Testing can be fun, SCIENCE!!!!!
And yet the bug when if the game lags, you place two blocks at once (and it lag spikes and kinda freezes at that point) isn't fixed. Especially annoying with obsidian or glass. No, I know I should stop playing Minecraft on a toaster. It does that sometimes only, though.
There isn't going to be a 1.9, if you people would pay attention conflicts like these wouldn't take place.

I just want some audio for this epicness.
Mind. Completely. Blown.
I kind of wish Minecraft just stayed with no storyline at all, though. I know, I know, "if you don't like t don't use it", but still.
For the best experience (not to mention several times more content in the form of mods) you should really be using 1.8, anyways.
figured itd be released fully by now >.>
