"Scrolls" Lawsuit Goes To Court
The original debate started when developer Mojang decided to make the working title of their new CCG-like game "Scrolls", which prompted software publisher Bethesda Softworks to respond, citing potential confusion between Mojang's Scrolls and their own Elder Scrolls franchise.
Some time into the proceedings, Notch offered to settle the dispute with a friendly game of Quake 3, a challenge which was not answered. The proposed solution was intended to ease any potential PR incidents, and provide an amicable solution to the dispute. The challenge went unanswered, and legal proceedings continued unabated.
Really, I'm not going to buy anything from Bethesda. It is quite clear now that they aren't just businessmen, but also are not gamers.
If I was notch and I won the Quake 3 game, I would have still changed the name of my game just because of honor.
I hate when people say Bethesa is Jealous of Mojang. I mean, why would they be jealous of a game that is boring anyway? I can't believe fanboys can't stand a damn thing. I had seen many stupid comments saying "oh we will pirate your games" or that you won't buy them. Bethesa won't give two craps about it. They have thousands and thousands of people who would still purchase their games. If a random person doesn't buy their games or pirate them, Bethesa will not instantly go on bankrupt. I do think the lawsuit is highly stupid though, but I prefer more than Bethesa wins than Minecraft Fanboys crying and whining about Bethesa suing Mojang. Mojang has millons, and I don't think a lawsuit would make Mojang close down forever and then stop making Minecraft that will be having millons of clones and mods and unofficial updates. Seriously, if Bethesa sees this post (which I am really unsure), they won't take off the lawsuit. Stop saying Bethesa is jealous if they have solt millons with games like Fallout. If they were jealous they would had created a clone of Minecraft and maybe they could have purchased Minecraft itself, so shut up fanboys. Also, it is not Bethesa itself, it's their lawyers, so call them jealous and not Bethesa itself. Also, for you stupid fanboys who are not convinced, Notch had alerady said that he liked Bethesa games, so shut up and investigate before throwing stupid insults.
I hope you read this damn fanboys, and if you wish cry on me calling me a troll, hater, whatever.
Surprisingly, very few games actually have "Scrolls" in the title. There are less than 10 and most of those pre-date TES (Amiga, Spectrum ZX, NES). Post that, "scrolls" was mostly used as a subtitle or as such that it was not the primary focus of the game's title.
Actual figures are far less than this because a vast majority (or even a vast minority, but still substantial figure) bought at the reduced price (12EUR). On top of this, before Mojang AB was founded (ie. Mojang Specifications) Notch was working as an individual, subject to income tax (not corporate tax) which is approximately 50%, which further reduces early earnings for the game to 6EUR.
This is mostly just chest beating by frail men in suits and ties and a large vocabulary of words designed to distract anyone who listens to their legal babble into thinking they actually have a valid case.
Btw Anyone know what scrolls is even about? All I got from a trailer was it was a bit like spore. Am I wrong?
