Jeb recently tweeted that 1.8 will most likely not be released tomorrow (9/13/11), but an update to the pre-release that's currently in circulation was highly likely. Mojang wants to make sure this release is the best it can be, and is continuing to squelch bugs even as they fine-tune the features.
Players who are still looking for bugs in the 1.8 should make sure to submit or update bugs they find here, so Mojang can facilitate a smooth transition to 1.8!
Whoa, imagine the learning curve involved in that. To go from the game we have now to all of a sudden getting like 300 items in a major update. I think my head would explode.
I came to minecraft at 1.6 or whatever was before 1.7 and it was a LOT to take in and it was amazing. Ive never felt so excited about exploring content in a game. waiting til the full release would be grand!
I don't like how they keep postponing! The game is still a beta, and anything that needs to be fixed or added can be included in the next update! Just meet the deadline, !

Lol, this1.8 update is like getting Half Life Episode 3. XD
True. I have been waiting forever for Halfelife Episode 3. I remember finishing episode 2 and being so on edge about all that had happened up to that point. It's been so long, Ive long since forgotten what had happened other than *spoiler spoiler Eli... spoiler spoiler not alive spoiler dream of cheese* And so, if episode 3 ever did come out, I couldn't just play it... I would literally have to to play and beat half life 2, episode 1 and 2 all over.
I think 1.6 was the Seecret Friday Update or the Halloween one, can't remember. -shrugs-
I started taking screenshots since my 3rd world. It looked like crap back then, but like you said, true fans don't care. I think you'll agree with me when I say that if it takes them ages to fix 1.8 and release 1.9, I'm more than happy to wait. I'm playing The Sims 3 (PC), Assassin's Creed 1 & 2 and the pre-release 1.8.
My most favourite feature of the game is the active "trail and error" mechanics of the virtual reality. In no game I have ever played can I mine underground, break into a lava pocket and burn to death if I'm too slow to react.
yes, that was it. the halloween update, I had join just before they added it. I was playing with a pirated copy that wasnt official. but i enjoyed it so much that I bought it right after the first week of playing. then they added the haloween update! amazing.
i will now go insane. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.8 will be better than Skyrim, even if Skyrim does release first.
Bethesda seems to be caring less and less about fixing major bugs in their games lately. It seems they're more concerned with mass-production. Eg. You couldn't do a damn thing in Oblivion without glitching quest lines (The Grey Fox never showing up, and being unable to delete spells from your list being two major problems that went ignored). Morrowind was just as bad, just in less horrific ways, there was still plenty of quest line glitches and cross-over errors, but it seems that the bug problems are getting worse. I pray for Skyrim to raise the standard, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Mojang is taking it's time, yes, but it's to ensure the quality of their content, not just throwing things at you, hoping they work. I have full respect for the developers, as I too would repeatedly delay an update to ensure that everything is operating at it's full potential. Personally, I'm having fun jumping ravines in the pre-release.
I say they don't release 1.8 at all. Skip it and work on the official release. I've played the "pre-release" of 1.8 and its amazing lots of new features, but it isn't complete by any means. EXP with no leveling, Useless Ender Pearls, Empty Villages (No NPC), Empty strongholds. I'm completely for working out all the bugs for the patch to make it perfect, but for what? There is 3 1/2 months left until the official release of the game, so when this patch is continually getting pushed back, when will there be time for the future patches to be released? I hate to say this, but its pointless in my eyes to release a unfinished patch that needs another patch to complete it. Its like someone handing you half a 100 dollar bill and saying "well I'll give you pieces of the bill for 3 1/2 months maybe" keep up the good work Mojang and keep your eyes on the prize. Good luck in your ventures Michael.
If you'd done your homework Cooldude, you'd know that when you have an Ender Pearl in your possession, the distance from which Endermen are aggro'd is halved. "Having an Ender pearl in your inventory will reduce their maximum range to the half, and you will therefore be able to get a closer look." http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Enderman
The exp leveling will eventually yeild skill points, which apparently will be used to purchase upgrades for your jumping height, etc.
As I'm sure you've heard, the villages will be populated by pigmen as of 1.9.
As for the Strongholds, I've heard that Notch will eventually use these for "Boss" creatures. And as it is, the strongholds aren't empty. You just haven't found the residents yet.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
agreed. Just tell everyone, sorry, we decided to wait til the full release, no 1.8, no 1.9 just the finished game. I wouldn't mind at all.
That was a joke by the way.

1.8 will. I dont think it will be longer than 1 week til its here.
Release this and add a 1.8_1 for bug fixes!!!
