Jens and Notch havejustannounced that the 1.8 pre-release .jar is available for public testing. It is important to remember that this is NOT The final release of 1.8, and is still extremely buggy. If you find any bugs, or need support, please join the #minecraft channel on irc.esper.net using your favorite IRC client!
NOTICE: This version will only work if you've paid for Minecraft, all the more reason to step up!
ok you need to(message to mojang and most people) xp lags very basly after a while so try to fix that...it crashes alot. i died once and the server crashes :(.But VERY fun though
Someone help! I'm on a Mac and whenever I try to download it, it tells me "The Java JAR file "minecraft.jar" could not be launched. Why is this happening? I'd appreciate help a lot! I can't wait too long to play it, I might starve of deprivation of 1.8.
dont launch it directly. go into library>app support>minecraft>bin
then replace the minecraft.jar in the bin with the 1.8 one
You do realize that JAVA is a cross platform virtual environment, and is not dependent on which operating system you are running as long as you have Java run-time installed. This means that even a cellphone can run a Jar file such as this (provided it had a good enough graphics chip and a powerful enough cpu)
Just had a quick runaround and must say, the new map generator is ace. It looks alot better now, especially with the insane mountains, rivers and mixed forrests, conrats mojang :smile.gif:
Had 2 crashes so far, one whilst saving chunks and one during loading of the map. The enderman needs a bit finetuning (he didn't spawn behind me and only hit me 1ce)
I like 1.8 so far and think, ill stick to it, although no mods/textures are out yet.
i never can find endermen :sad.gif:
did you notice the light changes now when its dusk and dawn :biggrin.gif:
For those who might be randomly crashing while doing nothing: You may want to try Notch's newer launcher "test". It allocates more java memory as compared to the "current" launcher. Also bare in mind that I was having javaw.exe crashes, not "black screen" or other crashes.
Personally 1.8 Pre Release seems to be using a ton more memory. Im pushing 1.2 GB while in creative, simply exploring. Whereas 1.7.3 pushed about 700MB with the current launcher.
