This is looking like it's more and more to do with the much anticipated "Adventure Update" moniker that Patch 1.8 has been dubbed with.

i just had to be honest though. i love RPGs and i love minecraft. the way to put them together is to use the customizable interactive parts of minecraft and the thrilling adventures and accomplishment of an RPG. I just hope Notch realizes it.
even more so then i already do but to have such a risk always be there when i mine, when i farm, when i build is just an amazing feat to be able to accomplish

Uh, i hate to tell you but minecraft is in no way an mmorpg. minecraft is a singleplayer game WITH multiplayer servers. MMORPG's are online games where you play with other people on servers 24/7. There's no comparison.
Also, i like hunger and death resetting levels. However, i'm worried about the actual leveling system itself. If implemented wrong, it could make the game very, very bad. Minecraft is all about creativity. If it becomes about leveling and grinding, it will kill all the joy out of the game.
Minecraft will be realesed with GAME MODES to allow you to play the way you wish
Classic...infinite building possibilities, infi blocks, flying, a world sized sandbox
Survival....just as it is right now pre 1.8
Adventure... with some Action RPG style added in to Survival...
If they are little check boxes in the final build which i would prefer it would allow me to tailor how id like to play, cool.

24/7? loser. creativity? classic. peaceful mode. it doesn't remove them.
I want levels. i really do just not character levels. the level system needs to be based on what you do in the game. if you cut down trees you get points to you're forestry level. if you shoot zombies with a bow you get points to your ranged level. if you dont get this just go check out suggestions thread and find me there.
I really like these ideas, but permadeath, that should be toggle-able in some way (hardcore, options, or both) 1.8 sounds awesome! Adventure mode, creative mode with flight, and all these new feature will be amazing! Great work, Mojang!
