The most recent patch for Minecraft Pocket Edition is now live!  Click on the image above, or visit iTunes (or the Android app store) to update your version now!  If it isn't currently available, give it a few hours, to account for regional distribution time differences.

What is new in 0.6.0?

  • Signs
  • Armor
    • Applying process is similar to smelting: choose from armour on the left and see a preview of the player on the right
  • Baby animals: Unclear how they are obtainable, as Breeding is not going to be added in 0.6.0
  • The Sky and Clouds (Appearance varies between fast and slow devices)
  • Improved D-pad
  • Design is more blocky and less rounded
  • When in flight mode, there is a "wing" icon on the jump button
  • Sheep can be colored with dyes
  • Blocks:
    • Netherrack
    • Nether Brick
    • Block of Quartz
    • Chiseled Quartz Block
    • Pillar Quartz Block
    • Cracked Stone Brick (creative only)
    • Mossy Stone Brick (creative only)
    • Stone Cutter
    • Chiseled Sandstone
    • Smooth Sandstone
  • Stairs:
    • Nether Brick Stairs
    • Sandstone Stairs
    • Stone Brick Stairs
    • Quartz Stairs
  • Slabs:
    • Sandstone Slab
  • Items:
    • Nether Brick (item) (smelted from netherrack and crafted into nether brick tile)
    • Upside-down stairs, corner stairs
    • Slabs can be placed in up position (needs testing on small screens)
    • Sand and Gravel are affected by gravity
  • Tweaks:
    • Recipes for crafting slabs give 6 slabs instead of 3 (as in PC version)
    • Nether Reactor spawns Netherrack blocks instead of Obsidian
    • The fog and sky color have changed
    • The Nether Reactor now spawns more items
    • Cows drop Leather
  • Bug Fixes:
    • Melons had several bugs where they would spawn too fast and where they shouldn’t

It's not really a bug, for me, so much as I can't even update it to 0.6.0.

I mostly play by joining my son in the game running on his iPad. Every time I click on a chest in multiplayer, the app quits. Since I need to put all my stuff in a chest before I disconnect to avoid losing it all (and thus get it out again when I re-join), this has effectively rendered the game unplayable for me. Anyone got a suggestion?

Updated and played around in 0.6.0, really nice. I love the new sky's, signs, etc. Great update, can't wait until multiplayer for Pocket Edition though!

i still dont have update in my google play :0 any help? hasnt even showed up on my pc.. is it my time region? its been hours and hours already

Pretty sure Android had a error or some sort, it is available on IOS, should be soon for Android. (:

PE was my first Minecraft experience. Looking back at the fact that there was a point where we didn't even have furnaces, this game has made amazing progress. I even prefer PE over XBLA these days since I don't have to start a new world every time we get an update. 0.6.0 is a great update and it's good to see PE getting some attention. Plus, who doesn't love an exclusive block?

Also, thanks for making the Nether Reactor worth it, I got almost a full inventory from spawned items.
I play Minecraft: PE and Xbox 360 Edition.

It's kind of cool that they added blocks that were just released for a PC snapshot.

Wow pocket edition keeps getting better. To anyone having trouble on google play: My mobile device uses google play and it updated early this afternoon so it shouldve updated.

Ahhhh, yep...  Xperia Play controls are dead except for crouching by tapping the left touch-stick.  Isn't it silly that the game was designed originally for Xperia Play, and we've gotten shafted in multiple directions.  Alas :S

Edit:  But the update is great.  Glad the Pocket Edition is getting more and more updates!
