Um... as a server owner, I'm STILL waiting for the plugin API which Mojang keeps promising (it'll be out next patch) but never is. Sighs... this is just gonna break the server again.....

As a server owner of 4 servers i'm glad it isn't out yet, I prefer that they redo the mechanics of the game (redstone, lighting, sound, rendering, etc...) before they work on something as complex as the API.
The problem with an API is once it is done, it isn't as easy to modify, and if they do the API first and find the rest of the game has major issues, then they have to redo the API itself too to work with any modifications they make to everything.

I'l be honest, I really dislike the redstone block. I think it never should have been made.
Apart from that, the redstone update is a blast.

Why do you dislike redstone blocks? I love them, I mine a lot and have tons of redstone so redstone blocks are gonna be really really really really really great for me, just to save space mostly. I dont see what could be wrong about them.

I love this snapshot, and most everything looks epic, but am I the only one slightly disappointed in the redstone blocks? I'm not talking about the texture or anything, because I think it looks pretty cool, but if it's really only a push-able redstone torch, I don't see much potential for it. I was personally hoping for it to act like redstone wire, so you could make vertical circuits without the torch delay, and condensed lamp set-up:

That's actually a neat idea (and might be compatible with what they've done already), but trust me -- a pushable power source (the first in the game) is really pretty cool, and will be quite useful for redstone hackers.
I had suggested the redstone block should double as a BUD switch, but that wouldn't combine well with the current functionality, and apparently there will be a separate block for that anyway.

Because I think redstone storage blocks are ugly and because they are also solid blocks, even though redstone is powder. Redstone is the only thing in minecraft that is good without any cubical entities.

I have another suggestion. Why not be able to activate music players from a distance with redstone? This could come in handy for custom maps when you want music to play in a certain area as a player enters there.
[/quote]
No, I think it should be only activated by placing the disk inside. But a good idea would be, if it can be activated using hoppers.
