Minecraft is no stranger to technical and industrial mods. Loads of the most popular mods for the game are exactly that, all but dominating the custom experience scene. Today's mod falls neatly into this category, and was put together by real-life chemists at the University of Texas in Dallas, called Polycraft World!
The mod aims to teach different aspects of real-world chemistry through building utterly insane contraptions, like jet packs, freeze rays, and much more besides. While it may seem daunting at first (and most technical mods are), it also comes with its own wiki, which neatly explains how it all works. Learning and insane creations rarely pair so neatly!
As an example: if you want to build the jetpack, it needs fuel. How do you get fuel? Well, it has to be processed from crude oil, which has to be obtained. The real genius of the mod is how learning the various chemical processes has a sweet pay-off, in the form of a new toy to play with.
Polycraft World runs in Minecraft version 1.7.10 only, for now. Interested in trying it out for yourself? All the information you need is at this link, including installation instructions, where to begin, and where to go from there!
