Snapshot 15w34a Ready for Testing!

 

The snapshot is here, and it's not in a tiny font! It's in a regular, normal font! The kind of font you're okay with bringing home to your parents for a visit!

 

What lies in store today? If you have been following spoilers, some of this may not surprise you. Naturally, there is always a few features that are a complete surprise!

 

FEATURES

 

  • New “attack strength” combat mechanic.
  • Maps now start at a more useful zoom level.
  • Map zoom can be changed upwards (crafted with paper) or downwards (crafted with shears)
  • New recipe for zooming in a map.
  • Lots of optimizations!
  • Improved command blocks*.
  • Command blocks have 3 modes: Repeat (purple color, works like a clock), Chain (green; works in sequences with other blocks), Impulse (what command blocks have always been)
  • Command blocks are now directional
  • Worsened Zombies’ arms getting tired.

 

BUGFIXES

 

  • [Bug MC-83471] – "CustomPotionEffects" Inoperable with Splash / lingering Potions
  • [Bug MC-85115] – Dragon Fireball doesn't have a name (entity.DragonFireball.name)
  • [Bug MC-85592] – Default log4j2.xml is suboptimal
  • [Bug MC-86137] – Crash when breaking heads
  • [Bug MC-86138] – Pick block on Mob (Dragon) Head / Structure block crashes the game
  • [Bug MC-86152] – Records lose their custom name when placed in a record player

 

Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody reports a bug, they will invade our homes and eat our food!

 

To get snapshots, open your launcher and press the “New Profile” button. Call it “snapshots” and check the box saying “Enable experimental development snapshots” and save. To switch to the normal version, you can select it in the dropdown at the bottom left corner of the launcher. Back up your world first or run the game on in a different folder (See the “new profile” dialog).

 

Snapshots can corrupt your world, please backup and/or run them in a different folder from your main worlds.
