Mojang also had the following to add regarding installation of Snapshots:
Jeb said:
The snapshots can potentially destroy your save games, even though we try our best not to do that. Only use them if you know what you are doing. To “install” a snapshot, you download the JAR file and replace the one located in your “application data” folder. The easiest way to find that folder is to start the game, select “texture packs” and click on the “open texture pack folder” button. It will locate “.minecraft/texturepacks”, and the JAR file should be placed in “.minecraft/bin”.
To UNINSTALL the snapshot, start the launcher (Minecraft.exe on Windows) and click the “options” button. Then click on “force update” and login as usual. The launcher will then download the official JAR file for you. Note that save games created in the snapshot may not work (and probably doesn’t) in the official version of the game.

Ignore me if this is old news as I haven't really been keeping track of the snapshots, but mining ore gives you xp now!

as for enchanting, I still think that the randomness needs to be removed and let players select the enchants they want as long as they have enough xp to pay for 'em.

This is of course for anyone who wants to find emerald ore naturally. Structures on and bonus chests were on.
Edit: also people were complaining about tripwires being easy to spot, which in this version, is complete hogwash.
I call it "Jungle Ruins" I have found one as well.
EDIT: They are actually called "Jungle Temples" according to the wiki.

Great update! Tripwires are gonna run all through the custom maps now D: Oh no!!! Wonder what's next?
I wanna find some emerald ore. No more having to kill millions of mobs now! Still no 1.3? It is a big update, so...
take your time (or hurry up! Whichever)
Well, since those certain blocks drop XP, I think you might get to level 30 extremely quickly, since you'd probably been killing mobs plus coal, redstone, emeralds, diamonds, etc. would be mined often so you'd probably get a ton of levels quickly...

Yea, my first post has the info, only blocks that don't drop themselves give it to you, for example, Coal, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli, Emerald, Diamond

30 enchanting ??? thats like picking a candy from a child... tooooooo easy!
50 was just fine.

was it ? , the only way to get 50 was to spend lots of time grinding at a mob system. Not exactly my idea of fun. 30 is reachable without grinding ( although maybe hard) so its more of a balanced number
You think 50 was fine? I think it was kind of ridiculous too. From the wiki:
To reach level 50, which is the amount of skill points required to purchase the highest type of enchantment, one would need to gather 4625 experience by defeating 925 hostile mobs
It seems like emerald ore gives experience now, about the same amount as experience potions.
Yeah, and if you were reading just about every single other comment on this news post, so does every other block that drops an item instead of a block (coal, redstone, lapis lazuli, diamond, emerald, and glowstone, with a chance of leaves and gravel, I might be missing some).
EDIT: I also remembered that pumpkins and melons might do this, I think; they drop seeds. Also, maybe wheat, long grass, or sugar cane, but those are transparent and walkthrough blocks
If I helped you, show your respect and click that awesome green button to the right!

The blocks that are in strongholds that have silverfish burrowed into them are now placeable.
So after you place it, when someone mines it, a silverfish will spawn from it.

Really Mojang is trying to kill alot of Mods now..
Well in the Beta of minecraft Notch talked about the mode, and then a mod was made to look like it so really a modder riped off Notch.
