posted a message on Custom mod pack looking for a host. budget of 30-50 USD a month more details inside
    Hello!

I'm looking to host a mod pack that I will maintain. I'd compare it to a slightly scaled down version of the FTB monster pack. So I need to know how am I accessing the servers files. Also I want to not be limited in amount of times I access the files. (Nodecraft has their own in-house control panel that is the most impressive i've seen so far) I have a limited familiarity with using the command line and am proficient at googling things, but i'd rather not have to.

I'm looking for at least 3 gigs of ram and will probably not go over 10 people online at a time but in the future we might. I'm aware of how chunk loading works and will make sure the users don't go overboard. Still I want to know how the processor is allotted out to each server on the machine because i'm fairly certain i'm not interested in a dedicated server at this time.

I'm interested in starting at 3 gigs of ram but as we expand, we might need to upgrade our server. If i'm in the middle of a rental agreement with you and want to upgrade to a higher tiered server, will you give me a credit for upgrading or will I have to finish out my current rental?

Definitely want a US located server, preferably in the Midwest area.

I would greatly prefer a 24 hour period to setup, test and get it running before i'm dead locked in. So either a trial period or a grace period where i can cancel my subscription

Solid State drives get a bump in consideration as well.

Why would a minecraft server need ddos protection?

Lastly, Creeperhost is running a special where they double what you rent so 3 months = 6 months and 6 months = 12 months. Any of you willing to cut some kind of deal even if it isn't the same one i'd love to hear it.

So if any of you can explain why creeper host appears so cheap but isn't a good deal, that would be good too. While you are competitors, I think you can be civil and honest about one another too.

Hope to hear from all of you!

    Matt

For a mac os x, when you are copying his config files, open of the config folder of his and the one you already have and copy it over. Do the same for the mods folder. For macs we don't get that nifty option of keeping old stuff and integrating, when we copy them directly it erases the whole thing. As for the buildcraft, redpower folders and mod_ee.props and mod_stevescarts.cfg those can be dragged and dropped into the .minecraft folder. I'll attempt making a video of this tomorrow morning. I'm rather tired and have never recorded before so will take awhile.

Been playing on this server for over 2 months. Great place for all different things. If you pay attention and follow the rules you are consistently helped with any problems and questions. Fun for pvp both organized and world. Also many opportunities for building as well. Definatly my favorite server i've ever come across.
