I have a surface dungeon in my current world that now has a glass ceiling. If you put water over that ceiling during the day, skeletons spawn. When you take it off, everything burns. It's the cruelest thing I think I've ever created.
I'm definitely automating it if and when redstone-activated floodgates come around.

also, my favourite way is by a mob DEATH factory. That's right, they go to ovens (fire and lava) but I don't get any items, it's just to kill them. Evil, eh?
Protip: If you're outnumbered and isolated (if everyone else is confused about your explanation), then you are the one at fault here, not them. Good luck on your basin, sink, or whatever.
Don't worry, falling into lava only happens when you have a lot of valuable items in your inventory at the time of digging. There's a script in the source code that says so.
I just built an auto sacrificer. Its 8 dispensers hooked up to a red stone switch, when i turn it on it launches hundreds of eggs at a wall, then when they spawn chickens they fall down into a lava pit.
yeah its evil.
Might as well just skip the wall part and let the dispensers fire the eggs directly into the lava.
A similar thing happened to me too.
Me and my friend were exploring a deep cave at the lava level, and we saw a human-like figure for a fraction of a second (could have been a zombie) but instead of chasing us like typical hostile mob behavior, turned away and went out of sight. Freaked out, we forced our way out of the cave (digging up). We found a couple of diamond veins though, and a ton of obsidian.
