posted a message on Port forward, g data rule, svchost
Ok, I ran a small server. People could join and do what ever. But all of a sudden, my anti-virus (G DATA) picked up some new applications while launching the server. I blocked them because I didn't know what they were. And now, people can't join. (This happened a while ago). So, here is my thoughts.

    My port is opened
When people try and connect, g data makes this network log:
    -Last activity: <date goes here>
    Protocol: UDP
    Application: svchost.exe
Local port: <This number randomly changes when anyone connects>
    Direction: -> (Out)
Remote host: <this changes from a DNS server IP to a resolver1 DNS server>
    Remote port: dns(53)
    Reason: Rule applied

Now, I tried to allow svchost that was using the UDP protocol then another svchost named: svchost.exe/All ports
I enabled both of them but people still can't connect.

Sorry if I made it more confusing then it has to be, I just need help.

posted a message on Extreme lag and freezing
This just started 3 days ago. All of a sudden, My minecraft with just freeze randomly. There's no intensive action going on or anything. It usually happens when I turn or go up stairs. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, on ANY server (except my own) I get extreme lag. My ping is around 200ms but on the server it's close to a 5 second delay of actions. Commands take forever to execute, chat takes forever to show up, chest take super long to open. What is wrong?

    Also:

    8GB RAM
    AMD phenom II X4 955 black edition ( 3.2GHz )
    MSI 5770 1GB

Keep doing it untill you get an HTTP error 500. It will give you a very long link.
Put that in your browser, and go to it.

If the page says anything other than OK, then you wont be able to connect to a server.

This looks like a great server, but two things:

First, the login servers are down, so we can't log in.

Second, I would like more info on the server. Is it survival? Factions? RPG? What is it?

Otherwise I would probably play on this server, it seems pretty cool :)

It is both Survival and factions. You can either solo it, join a faction, or make one.

    --

To everyone else, either the server was restarting or it crashed do to an issue that was fixed recently, if you try now, you should be able to connect.

If bumping was allowed, you're problem would be 100x worse. Rather than your server thread going back a few pages, you'd be back 20+ in the matter of minutes. Yes, there are some inherent problems with server threads in a forum format (especially with how many there are), which is why we are looking for ways to help servers (see: Looking for section).

If bumping was allowed, the servers that consistently have 20+ people bumping as fast as the forums would allow them. How would a small server consisting of maybe 3-4 people out-bump 20+ people servers? They wouldn't, speeding up the section will only serve to kill small servers faster.

Also, mods do their jobs. Reports take normally less than 2 hours to get to. If you see people posting off-topic stuff if their thread, REPORT IT. I can't stress that enough. There are far too many posts for moderators to be able to read every post. It would be physically impossible.

Not trying to be rude but where in the post did I say bumping should be allowed? No where.I'm saying it shouldn't. The only post that should be in the topic is if the server didn't have a website or if the website was down for maintenance or some other problem.

posted a message on Minecraft server section rant and suggestions
First of all, this is about the minecraft servers section. That place is so messed up, it is impossible to get a new server going with a decent amount of new players. All the big giant RPG servers and other major servers cover them up.

    Here is the problem:

In order to keep the survival section fair, you are not allowed to:

    • Bump threads, intentionally or not.
Keep in mind that not directly saying "bump" doesn't mean it's not bumping. For example: Posting server updates every 15 minutes can be seen as bumping. Excessive bumping can lead directly to a permban
To server owners: Encouraging your staff members/players to bump your thread can lead to a permanent lock of your server thread, permban and or IP ban
    • Spam server threads (Duplicate thread posting)
You are only allowed to make 1 active server thread per server. A server thread is considered inactive after 14 days of inactivity. An excessive amount of server thread spam can lead directly to a permban and/or IP ban
    • Off topic post
You are only allowed to discuss server-related topics in a server thread. An excessive amount of off topic posts can lead to a temporary or permanent lock of your server thread.

Please report any rule-breaking posts/threads! Please don't reply to them.

    - PirateBay

If he actualled followed the FIRST thing on there, there wouldn't be any problems at all.
Bumping, if a small new server does any sort of bumping, topic will either get locked or the user will be banned for bumping. But, the big RPG servers can get away with it.

    Examples of obvious bumping:
Every single server that uses white listing

Seriously? These server have a WEBSITE with their OWN FORUMS. Why can't people just apply their? I'll tell you why, because they wouldn't get any players at all because other servers doing white listing will knock them back 3 or 7 pages within a couple of minutes.

Now, their are some other things like servers that tell users to post problems on the forums or on the website. And I can see some users using the Minecraft forums because they don't want to sign up on the website. That would be fine if the whole server didn't do it.

    Suggestions:
    • Either lock white listed servers and make them use their website or create a new sub forum made for white listed servers. This will greatly improve a new servers chance of getting a lot more players
    • Get the mods to actually do their jobs. Some ( SOME ) servers just have general discussion about what they did last night or how amazing their 360-ladder stall-fakie shot was last night or something as stupid. Mods should lock the topic because it's obviously bumping.
    • Advise major servers that 'don't' have a website to get on. When I say don't, I mean they have one, but they don't post it in the forums, they advertise it on their server.
    • [NEED STAFF] LOL, that is one of the most obvious bumping methods I ever seen. Tell them to get rid of it. All it does is make people flood the topic with applications. If they need staff, either say it on the server or on their website if they have one.
There are only 2 tags I consider acceptable tags that could be considered bumping tags:
[NEW] and [FRESH WORLD]. There are probably more but I don't know them.

    Thoughts?

posted a message on Port Forwarding Issues
Well, if it says the port isn't opened then it isn't opened.

    *Go to your routers gateway
-*Can be found by doing windows > run/search (Win7) > cmd
    -*Type ipconfig
-*Copying the 'Default Gateway' into your browser
*Find the way to forwarding ports
*Make sure desired port is open, if it isn't listed, add it again
    *Restart computer
    *Try again.

If that doesn't work then it could be a router problem or an ISP problem. Or, your firewall decided to change it's firewall level ( Mine did this, you basically have to white list yourself. ).

posted a message on Looking for 2GB server. Cheapest wins
Hello. I plan on starting a server as soon as I get done building everything for the server and setting up all the needed plugins.

    What I would like:

    -McMyAdmin
    --Or something similar.
    -1GB/S connection
-Fast support ( <10 hour answering time )
    -99%+ uptime
    -Full control over server
    -FTP access

What would be nice to have ( Optional ):
    -TS3 server or mumble
    -mySQL Database
    -Dedicated IP

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

This server will be running at max 30-40 players with maybe 12-25 plugins. If the server is successful, I will get a better plan ( 3GB,4GB, whatever you offer )

So far the lowest is $30 for 2GB ( at the price of a 100MBps connection )

posted a message on How do I?.....
I'm looking at them to. And this is how you do it.

Go to http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/ and find the mods you want on your server. Download them.

From there you can either use their built in FTP or use something like Filezilla or something, doesn't matter. From there, you enter the needed details ( I can't help you here ), select the plugins you downloaded/want on the server, then click 'upload' or something similar. If you are using Filezilla, make sure you are uploading the plugins to the 'plugins' directory. Or else the plugins wont load.

Note: Most plugins create folders and config files. So you can either download bukkit and set it up on your computer ( no need to port forward ). Install the plugin in the plugins directory, run the server, and edit the config files. Then, upload the plugin(s) and folder(s) you just edited.

posted a message on Starting a server
I hope this can be considered in the right section. But anyways, I'm about to make a server. I'm going to be using an external host simply because a home internet cannot handle 50 people at once. So, my one question.

How do I get people to get on my server / know about my server?

I know I should post a topic in the minecraft forums but it would be buried in no time at all. And I can also list my server on spout. But what else can I do? I don't really want to run an empty server for 2 months and have no one come on it.

OK. I am making a clock. A digital clock. A 24 hour clock. Using pistons. I need help with two things.
First thing: The correct speed of time change.
Second thing: How to make numbers. I'm trying to do this -->

I don't know how to make the numbers. I'm not trying to copy him, I'm just making this for the fun of it. And to possibly learn something new about redstone.

Here's what I have so far:

    Front

    Back 1

posted a message on Minecraft - the potential 'make your own RPG'
With the edition on potions and enchanting items. Minecraft has become a lot more fun to play. Whether it be going to villages and killing everything. It has gotten a lot more fun. But this game now has the potential to be a 'create you own' type thing. What would you be creating? Simple, your own RPG game, using minecraft.

How would this work / make it fun.
If this were to be added it would be optional. You can continue to play minecraft like you normally would or do this. How it works is there would commands you would have to do to make everything possible (duh). So for example: You want to make a simple quest.
You have to do these commands in the following order.Note, you would have to press your chat key, mine is F but i'm going to use '*' ( I made these up, they can be different or shortened.)

    * create <name> [class] !-Classes explained later-!
/An npc has been created it's name is what ever you named it
    * assign quest <kill|get|bring|find> <amount> <mob|item|place|>

You have just made a simple quest!

How would this be fun? Well, if you don't like RPG's this wouldn't, but again, it's optional. But if you do like RPG's, then it would be fun.

What kind of quest can you do?

You would be able to make/do a lot of quest. Some types of quest could be tied in with another quest. Or you must complete quest blarg to do quest zing!. Or meet a certain level requirement.

Ok, how would it be fun for me if I have to MAKE everything?

That's true. YOU have to make everything. BUT, there would be an option at the side of the world you made. And it would say 'upload' or 'share' *NOTE* That button will be grayed out until you make at least 1 quest! The 'share' or 'upload' would take your world, and put it on here (minecraft forums in a special topic) or some other website. From there, you can see what other people have made. What they have built, what they have created. All you would have to do is download the save and put it in the worlds folder.

    Other things:

Classes. These would be like the current npc's. They would just have a different skin and possible look different.

You can also make the npc's do actions by assigning them actions so they don't just stand around. Some 'jobs' would include:
Getting wood, hunting for food, finding and mining resources.
    Commands:
    * assign <name> <job> <job type>

The npc's would also have the ability to talk, if you make them say so. The command would be:

    * talk <name> <what they say>

That's about it. I'm open for suggestions to improve this suggestion.

    Add me on steam: Arcticxs
    Add me on origin: Sladaski

*EDIT* Obviously there would have to be more items added and some mobs so you can do a lot more quest. And so you can make more quest without repeating one.
