id like to join because there are not many good vanilla servers out there. fewer people means less problems, and i really hate greifing and general ery. i just want to build and explore with some people, maybe have some fun events, and work on a few large builds. im 21 and ive been playing since pre-alpha, and am a pretty decent red stoner, and would be happy to help anyone. also, i prefer vanilla, minecraft is meant to be played this way.

spiders are cleansed daily and the glass polished by pigmen servants

in other words, i dont care as much about mechanics such as how to trap mobs or stop the obscene amounts of animals spawning all around my estate. a nice sword stops all those problems anyhow and im more into the looks of the buildings than function. though i do mean to make some redstone wizardry at some point with hidden rooms and such.

posted a message on my ssp estate *pick heavy*
Hello, i bring you another volume of screenshots of a small little work ive been doing for the past few days. I have decided to make myself a house as a base of operations in a single player world. I hate having just a small little shelter so i tossed it on peaceful and built this. After it was build i put it back on normal to explore my world and the nether. I find the game so much more enjoyable this way, apposed to my norm of living underground in my mines. so, without further ado, here are the pics.

^ this is the view of the front gates from a bit farther back on a hill. You can see the front of the house and some topiary. Youll notice some things on the roof but well get to that.

^ this is closer to the door

^ this is just inside the front door. There is a grand staircase, two wings on either side, a wing behind the stairs, and two other rooms on the second floor. The piece de resistance is the large wooded thing in the center of the foyer, i call it my harmonic resonator. It has hidden redstone wire that goes down into a hidden basement that will play a song when the button is pushed that can be heard throughout the grounds. It was the actual inspiration of this house.

^ heres another angle, you can see my lighting from this view.

^ this is a closeup of the harmonic resonator.

^ this is the view from the top of the staircase

^ this is what the second floor looks like, im looking towards the doorway into the study

^ this is the western wing doorway, this goes to the kitchen

^ this is a bit farther in, there is a nice little sitting area and some closets

^ this is the doorway to the kitchen

^ this is the kitchen, you can see some delicious cake on the window, the counters, and the walk in fridge.

^ fridge. pull lever, get foods.

^ the kitchen leads into a mudroom which connects to the dinning room. there is also a pathway to the front of the building. all good estates need a servants entrance.

^ here is the dinning room, complete with benches and a kings chair.

^ the grand hall. this is behind the staircase and leads to the spa, storage room, and dinning room.

^ the spa contains a small pool, lit by lightstone.

^ the storage room has some chests but thats about it.

^ this is the drawing room behind the staircase which leads to the hall. It has a jukebox and i enjoy playing my records here, they can be heard throughout the estate.

^ on the other side of the house is the eastern wing. this leads to the lower study

    ^i repeat, lower study.

^ the lower study has some books and a table and also some stairs that lead up to the roof

    ^ the stairs.

at the top of the stairs is a glass room which protects from the elements. from the roof you can access the upper study and also another odd structure. you can see it from the ground but upclose it is revealed as the power source of the estate. it acts like a lightning rod.

^ the upper study, also known as the archives leads back inside and also into a small room containing my portal.

^ i repeat, portal. it leads into an amazing nether area, i was stunned by it, huge lakes and lava falls that go on seemingly forever. i was truly gifted with it.

^ if you go across the way on the second floor you get to the master bedroom

^ the bed is at the top of some stairs, it has big windows.

^ this is the bedroom, it has a quilted, four posted bed, a brick fireplace (and a chimney that billows smoke) and theres also a balcony.

    ^ glorious balcony

^ if you go back outside and turn the corner of the building there is a nice lighted path

^ the path stops at the mudroom but if you continue into the backyard there is a greenhouse

^ the house has some other surprises, as like what is beyond this strange alley

^ there is a well far back there, it supplies running water to the estate.

And there we have it, a tour of my estate. please feel free to post your comments, they are more graciously accepted.

ok now tell me if i am doing it right please

i made a repeater as seen here i used E to get a 4/4 beat

the output goes to a note block and also goes to an inverter. the note block plays the first note in the measure. the inverted turns the signal into the next beat in the measure. there is a subsequent string of noteboxes and inverters to play note after note always 4/4 time.

this will play each note over and over in time... over and over and over. how can i make the repeater only send a signal one time through? so that the note only plays once until the input is reset?

ok i think i understand slightly. i was able to make a 4/4 time keeping repeater using the wiki and figured out some things... maybe idk. i can play notes in time anyway. only thing im stuck on now is how to make them not be just a chord repeating over and over... i thought for a minute youd need like a repeater for every note but thats stupid and im not surprised i thought that. but i still dont truely understand, ill have to be patient until someone awesome like yourself makes an idiots guide to this =]
in your diagram the chests are noteblocks and the red wool is redwire yes? do you think you could redraw it again for me but show me where to put torches and such a bit zoomed in? i know im a pain but the help is really appreciated and i will write you a song =D

a string of repeaters should suffice for timing you say? what is the ratio? is it 1 for 1? as in how many strung together repeaters do you need to create a half rest? full rest? etc. and is there any way to extend a note other than playing it over and over because that sounds staccato.

This topic is me practically begging. I have been building away in minecraft for some time now and i have yet to be able to do anything with redstone more than copying tutorials to make double doors automatic (some triumph huh...)
So, what i really need help with is understanding the different types of gates. Yes i have read the wiki article and it is usually open at all times, but its greek to me. What i want to do is make a music box for my mansion (im going to build a new steampunk victorian for this with the music box in the main hall ala ghost in the shell innocence 2). I need to know what to do with the redstone so that i can time the music and also what methods people are using to hook it all up. for the main part (the music boxes) i would love for them to either be under one layer of floor (size is only limited to what you can hear and loaded chunks i guess) or behind glass stacked on each other like a stereo? With that in mind i would love for someone to be able to help me with this please, all my diamonds will belong to you!
