So as I posted before, I had this problem. I'm not exactly sure why or how I fixed the problem - or if it will help anyone else, but here is what I did.

I noticed that when I started a new world that the problem went away. I saved a copy of my World elsewhere. I then renamed the World1 folder (just to see if I could rename it that way). Then upon opening Minecraft again, World1 was no longer there, so I started a new game. Then I promptly deleted the new World1 folder, and renamed my old one back to World1 so I could use it again. My world reappeared in the 'Open World' screen and since then the "double-clicking issue" has been almost none (still occasionally happens when near to the surface).

So my guess is simply moving or renaming your world's folder, running the game briefly, and then replacing it back in the original spot may solve the issue.

If that makes any sense, give it a try. Again, make a copy of the folder for your world before you try anything though.

I just wanted to announce that I am having this problem as well in the hopes that someone will take note and find a solution. This problem started recently - in the last two weeks - on a world I've been developing for over a month.

That's really all I can add to what else has been said on the subject: placing glass and dirt blocks twice for every one block placed, can't shut doors at certain angles, etc.
