It has been a while I wanted to get rid of this stupid sound, and after trying a FFT filter high pass 200Hz it still sucked, so I changed it to something completely different.
I was glad you decided to do this in r18, but after trying it, the replacement is way worse :[
Usually I enjoy cicada sounds, but these are interspersed with weird clicking noises that become asynchronous and irritating, especially when they're played as often as they are & overlap. I had to switch back to the old cricket sounds for fear of having an ear seizure.
There have got to be some decently sampled stock cricket chirps out there, and some smoother cicada buzzing, too. I would help, but I am no good at foley. Aside from this, I'm really glad you are continuously improving this mod

Since it uses modloader/forge, it should be compatible with most other mods that are compatible with either modloader or forge.
HOWEVER, some mods seem to cause partial conflicts with this mod. It still works mostly, and you can still spawn/train/mount a dragon, but for some reason I can't get a mounted dragon to fly or move at my command.
I did some testing to try to narrow down the possible causes. First I temporarily removed all of the mods in my .minecraft/mods/ folder, since that was easy to undo. The dragon control problem persisted. Therefore, I can pretty much confirm the following mods ARE fully compatible:
I also tested this mod with a copy of minecraft that had ONLY modloader installed, and the dragon controls worked fine. This tells me that one of the following mods installed in my minecraft.jar is causing the controls not to work:
If I have time later today I'll try manually uninstalling each of these one at a time and testing until the dragon controls start working again. It'll be a huge pain, but hopefully it'll help someone besides myself. If I narrow the problem down to Optifine, though, I give up.
So I just tried actually riding a dragon for the first time, and once I'm mounted (after training it with fish & putting on a saddle) the dragon doesn't respond to any of my inputs. Won't take flight, won't turn, nothing. Has anyone else encountered this? I can list the other mods I'm using, if that would help :\
I was wondering the same thing. Seems like a nice visual enhancement; shame to see something this cool go away. I hope the modder gets more time on his hands, or somebody picks up the project for him :]
cool, was wondering what became of this. I hope somebody picks up the torch, because your models are far better than what mojang came up with. I understand their approach to avoid needing new skins, but now that the community has provided plenty of those, I would love to use these models again :>
Excellent mod. Having something like this built into the vanilla game's ending would be a vastly more satisfying reward for "beating" Minecraft than that terrible poem. I'm glad we have capable modders to actually do cool stuff with the slew of unfinished content scattered throughout this game :]
I can't leave well enough alone, so I'm curious if there are alternate skins available for this somewhere. A quick search of the thread turned up just two, based on toothless and charizard, and I'm surprised there aren't more. It might help to have one of those color guides to help map textures from existing enderdragon skins onto the various parts of the mod's dragon. Not that there's anything wrong with the default, I just like to tweak stuff ;p
The flower and mushroom are both edited from original dokurpg stuff.
As for the blaze powder, it is based on one of the earliest textures Dusty released, but I guess his statement about not allowing use of any content in his pack even applies to widely circulated, heavily edited stuff? The permission he gave me back in the day to use his stuff (before he changed his stance) still stands, if I'm reading this right, but it seems that's limited. Pity. I certainly understand artists wanting to keep others from "diluting" their work or falsely claiming credit for it, but it's a shame to lose such a wealth of good pixels.
It's a good thing we have threads like this one, keeping the creativity flowing :>

I noticed that bookshelves don't seem to use CTM in your mod (at least with Optifine). It appears optifine doesn't pick up CTM bookshelf textures unless they're defined in the CTM folder (even if they are in ctm.png in the root). From the Optifine thread:
When extended CTM is not defined (folder ctm with properties inside not existing), OptiFine uses a default configuration which use "ctm.png" for glass, bookshelf and sandstone. If extended CTM is available, then it has full control about which blocks are connected and the defaults are not active. It is very easy to configure default CTM with ECTM, just add configuration files for glass, bookshelf and sandstone.
Glass panes are more complex, they currently use only "ctm.png" and are only connected if the size of "ctm.png" matches the size of "terrain.png". This is to avoid that 16x glass panes are shown with a HD texture pack.
Any idea what can be done to fix this? I'm not familiar with editing CTM properties files..
