posted a message on Multiple servers on the same port?
Let's say I have a dedicated server with multiple IPs available to me. Is there a way to run multiple Minecraft servers on the same port if I have each server on a different IP? I don't know how to do this or how it would work because I've never tried but I do know I can't run 2 servers on the same port without different IPs because the port will already be in use.

So the rating bug is now fixed for real, even in IE, though I highly suggest using a browser that doesn't obscure every standard there is and make everything look bad.

An active antivirus (with a file scanner running on background) is a preventative measure and it should detect threats BEFORE they fill your computer with **** but all anti-virus software really fail this and that's why I don't have one on this computer.

While it is true some may have an "active" scan, that is a Firewall's job. They block malicious traffic/programs from passing through. I may not be an expert on the subject, but I can very plainly tell by your "all anti-virus software really fail" comment that you are a completely and utter moron.

Just so you know, an anti-virus is not a preventative measure. I does nothing to prevent anything, just as you said, because that is not their purpose. If you need that you should get something with a firewall or some sandboxing technology like Comodo.

In one of the themes for stat images, I use a variable, we'll call it $update.

For PHP images to be updated, my update script includes the stat image file, which creates said image and outputs it into the respective PNG file. The update script uses a variable, $update, to check if the server should be deleted for low uptime. As you see, two variable are the same. Before adding this PNG image feature, this was not a problem as the different scripts never interacted, and the stat image script actually needs to know the uptime so it was a good thing it existed. This one theme, however, cause the variable to be overwritten, causing all servers using that PNG image theme to be deleted.

So now I feel rather stupid and there isn't much I can do besides tell you the issue has now been fixed and will never happen again.

We have lost some 80 servers today and I hope you will all come back, and know I have done my best to keep this new site as bug-free as possible and learned my lesson. If it is any consolation, it is the start of a new month and ratings were to be reset anyway.

Sorry for any of you who lost their listing!

posted a message on Maintaing the Server - Generating Revenue
    Quote from Zillo7 »
I've started a server, and it's been up for about a week now, but I'm having trouble funding it. I've added a donation link to my forum thread, but it isn't successful. I don't want to make the server P2P, but I do need to generate some revenue to pay for the costs associated with the server.

    Here's some ideas I have:

    Quote from Zillo7 »
Have a 'donator' tag in chat for bragging to encourage donating

Yes. Also, add a donor/donator group on your forums!

    Quote from Zillo7 »
Give some commands for donating, such as /sethome, or give items

Maybe, though giving items seems more like you are selling them something, not receiving donations

    Quote from Zillo7 »
    Have moderators/admins pay

No, no, no. No. Having people pay to become admins means they are paying for the powers that come with being an admin which only proves that they want the power, and therefore will be the ones to abuse it. If you want awful administration and abusive mods, this could be OK.

    Quote from Zillo7 »
    Ads in chat/forum thread

Ads on a forum/website is a great idea!

Webhosting is cheap, or even free, and if you get a reasonable amount of traffic, putting ads on a web site is a great idea to cover your costs. I would suggest using Google Analytics so you can see how much traffic you are actually getting.

As for other ideas, provide other incentives like a reserved slot on the server(so then can get on even when full) or if you have plugins, allow them to have more sign shops or protect more chests, things like that.

Looking good, a bug that's been bothering me has finally been resolved :biggrin.gif:!

-Fixed ratings not POSTing correctly in some browsers
-Some admin panel changes make it easier to approve comments faster
    -Started back end restructuring

EDIT: It appears IE, the bane of my existence, does not work properly when commenting, so please use FF or Chrome if you are leaving comments until the issue is resolved.

Well it's a relatively new laptop with an i7-Q720, 6GB ram, GeForce GTS 360m discrete graphics so that would be rather unfortunate.

    Thanks.

I thought it was but when I took it to the "authorized" repair shop they wanted $90, which seemed rather not worth it so I opened it up myself and didn't find anything coming loose but I tried my best to ensure everything was plugged in all the way. I would think if it was a manufacturer problem I would get it fixed free but they really want to screw me.

It's a lot like that except it has gotten much worse.

I think the connection might be loose but does anyone have any suggestions? Basically, the screen has to be moved around a lot to get it to a position where it'll stay on.

I don't really know much about this kind of thing but I am sure curious now. I also had a similar problem with a different type of server awhile back.

My only suggestion is to see if there is any new firmware for your router.

Added a ping feature to the list, which is just the time from the start to after the socket was created.
Fixed PNG images always using one style instead of the style chosen
    Added Server count
Changed comments to be smaller in height by default/have a max vertical size
Fixed the navbar when sorting by uptime percentage
Added count of comments being displayed

    Why thank you =)

Also, I have fixed problems with home servers not persisting through browser restart, comments displaying oldest first, PNG images causing servers to be deleted if they are offline for the first iterations of the 5-minute check after being added, and a couple other small problems.

That's right! There's a new, feature-filled status list available for your usage!

Those of you that used the Abyssal-Legion Server status list will be pleased to hear that I have made a new version!

    Old Features:
      [*:33c4kb4c]Give detailed server information
[*:33c4kb4c]Auto-updating php status images for online/offline statistics
[*:33c4kb4c]Choose from several styles of images to fit your taste!
[*:33c4kb4c]Server management - update your server information as you need, after it's been added
[*:33c4kb4c]Users can sort by a number of different fields, allowing for easy discovery
[*:33c4kb4c]Classic/Survival server differentiation - whatever your server, add it!
[*:33c4kb4c]Hidden listings available - if you want to drive people to your site or just use the status images, you can use this and keep your IP/Port information hidden from the public
[*:33c4kb4c]Each server has a detailed description page of it's own

    NEW Features:
[*:33c4kb4c]Country detection! Users can now pick a server that's best for them in terms of location.
[*:33c4kb4c]BBCode parsing in server description! - Put emphasis on what you need using a variety of popular BBCode tags
[*:33c4kb4c]New pagination - tons of pages of servers is still easy to navigate
[*:33c4kb4c]Set your home server! - If you love a server, set it as your home so you can get back to it anytime and easily
[*:33c4kb4c]Auto-updating PNG images - if you would prefer a PNG to a PHP image, now you can have one!
[*:33c4kb4c]Searching - Search server list to help find exactly what you are looking for
[*:33c4kb4c]Comments and Rating system - Let people rate and comment on how good your server is to gain traction against other servers in the list
      [*:33c4kb4c]Ping/latency on list

    Info:

Commenting/rating system: Anyone can post comments and rate any server once in 24 hours(You can comment on any number of servers in a 24 hour period, but on one server you can only comment once in 24 hours). The default sort of the list is by rating, and server ratings reset every month on the first of the month. The stat images will link users to the rating/comment page by default, so encourage your users to vote once a day to raise your rating!
Note: Comments will not show up until approved. Because we are not requiring a sign-in process to comment, we are requiring all comments to be submitted for verification before being posted.

Private/hidden listings - Why?: Many people want to keep their IP/port information private, but would like to use the status list for any number of reasons. Some people want to get people to their site to register to get onto a whitelist or they would like to use our auto-updating status images on their sites/signatures to keep people updated on server status.

Home Server: This allows you to save a server you visit often as your "home" server, so it will put a link to it at the bottom links section of the page. This requires cookies to be enabled to work and as of right now are set to expire after 30 days.

    Stat Image example:

Add your server to the list today!

    Enjoy.
    Post any suggestions here.

Also, keep in mind this is a new site that has not been exhaustingly tested, so please report any bugs you come across!

If it is only when you are logging in, try deleting your save from world/players/<youname>.dat

A player had this issue and someone was wrong with that file and deleting it fixed it. Though keep in mind you will lose your items/position.
