If you look at how Microsoft is making their operating system operate more behind a wall with the "S" edition where you can't install anything that isn't in their store, how long will it be before the next major update of their mainstream version becomes walled like this and not able to install the java version of MC but only able to use the one from their store.. I'm still running windows 10 without the creators edition, as it didn't give me any reason to upgrade.. Didn't really want to upgrade from windows 7, but it was a free upgrade so could'nt look a gift horse in the mouth could I?
My personal opinion is that microsoft want to kill the java version, as they can't really get the mod creators to start selling their mods and pay microsoft a percentage of the money they make from it. I foresee a future where the "minecraft" edition will have mods, but they will only be allowed to sold in the store and if you make a mod that microsoft doesn't like, then they'll refuse to sell it.. or official mods from microsoft will only be sold and they'll be rip offs from java modmakers.

Would just like to say that this server is one of the friendliest places i've ever had the honor to call "home", the staff are great and interact with us normal players. There is little to none lag on the servers, even on a busy day. The players are all fun to be around, helpful and conversations are great. I've been part of the community since 2014 and played on a lot of the servers they've had running, and even when i didn't play i always came back for the community spirit that is there.
The owner is friendly and helpful, the staff are always around to help out in a crisis aswell.

Decided to check out the servers again as i've returned from a few months away and had a server running.... can't connect to the server, or even the website either

I've got full FTP access using filezilla to upload the modpack and finally figured out how to get it running, which it does.. but as i've only ever played on servers and let the other people do all the hard work i've kind of got lazy but i'm at that age now where i don't believe fairies and elves do all the hard work... Plus if i know what i'm doing, then i can impress my kids/grandchildren with my supernatural powers of being able to do it!!
Sponge is for 1.10.2 onwards, i've been trying to use thermos as that corresponds with the version of forge i've got...
However it's not playing ball with me

I've just rented a hosted server for minecraft, and managed to put on Unabridged modpack (atlauncher)(1.7.10) and get it running....
However I'd like to have a few plugins like essentials, worldguard, etc running as i want to have a small server running for a few family, and don't want them all to be able to just run riot on there, so give them permissions and ranks accordingly... been searching for hours to try and find out how to go about it, but can't find tutorials... I know how to get the plugins and where to stick them, but they don't want to work.. Someone said about a bukkit server.. But that's all.. No help at all...
If anyone can help i'll be thankful as i don't want to look a total idiot infront of my kids and family.

Few Questions
Being in the UK, the prices are in US $, what's the actual price for a UK resident to buy a $5 or $10 (worked out about £3.50 or about £7.20 is this correct?)
What help is there in setting up a server, with modpacks and plugins (never done it myself and always played on servers rather than host), or is there a tutorial you can point me in the right direction to help me do it myself.
How long from ordering a server will it be to having it set up?
Apart from those concerns I'm quite interested.. But will wait til my answers are *ahem* answered!!

Like you, i used to be pretty rubbish at trying to make a decent build when playing.. But as the poster above said look online for inspiration.
Get some google images up of houses / factories / anything in minecraft and then try and build...

Anyone Managed to get this working with resonant rise 4? I've tried a few things to get it installed.. But i've failed miserably..
Trouble is where i use the ATlauncher to get RR4 running, i don't know what i'm doing..
Any help would be greatfully recieved..

I've got a railroad between my main base, and my lakeside apartment that i need to do.
I've got a skull built into a moutain that i need to make the inside of it into a giant apartment
Still got a few bits 'n' pieces to do in my main house's garden to finish off
Got a giant glass dome i built with a fountain inside that i need to finish off decorating,
Built a harbour and only got a lighthouse built, need to make a ship in the dock, and the rest of the town, plus a shell of a town hall that needs finishing
Half way through building a modern house on top of a flat area overlooking a river, mountains and a forest
Got to build a zombie XP farm.. found the spawner and disabled it, need to finish it off now!!
Think that's about all i have to do.. for now, until i find another location that looks good and plans appear in head and i start it off again!!
