What are you, blind? Have you not seen the countless "game in game" redstone creations on the front page? The Rubix Cube, Minecraft DDR, etc. Hell, all you have to do is go to the home page and scroll down to see the first ever MC GPU. Many of the projects are for fun and not profit and popularity is "earned". So it's "sad" that you make an assumption about something without understanding that it's completely invalid and makes you seem like an ass that doesn't know what he's talking about.

Seems like they don't.
I'd like to be a QA guy at Mojang because I'm pretty sure it's the easiest job in the world.

Actually it's Mojang AB's game, and while Notch created the company he paid all his extra help by giving away parts of his company, so it is a joint-held company, which means lots of people get a say. If you think Carl Manneh and Dan Kaplan don't have a say, I've got some creeper-proof armour to sell you.
My personal wish is for the big updates to involve a little more than "New Company Logo" "New Game Logo" and "Stats that only work in Single Player Mode." - Ok yeah we new have a bed, squid and sand that can ignore gravity, but there really needs to be an update with 20 new things to explore, combine and fashion with to make buildings look better and to create some more fantastical inventions.
How about making a pole that just isn't a buggy looking fence corner that can only be built top down?
Floodgates to turn on/off water and lava flows?
3 different types of lighting fixtures. I can make a jukebox but a freaking lightbulb is too high-tech?
Display case. Drop 8 blocks of glass around ANY object and it becomes a statue of that object that you can put on a shelf.
A dog house where you still-useless dog will be found at should he ever get lost. Again.
Bottlerockets for neat fireworks displays. Why make sulpher/gunpowder only destructive?
Make 20 little stupid easy to code things and put those in every update. I'm not asking for an overhaul of reddust circuits, or water pipes w/ logic but really - is a piston that hard to figure out?
I promise you, if the game expands rapidly, so will the 2.5 million in sales.

Because the respawn point is unmovable, I find myself sticking closer to "home base" - never really going more than a few mountains/islands away just in case I get killed by doing something stupid. If I had something good in my hand I have to trudge back, usually waiting for daylight, and try to rescue my stuff. So to minimize hassle, I just don't go too far from the respawn.
But I have a slightly better idea, I think...
Beds.
Your initial respawn point will only be active until you build your first bed. From that point on you will always be respawned in your bed. Now, I don't know a good way to do multiple respawn points, do you show a map, can you name each bed and have a popup menu ask which place you would like to go? I dunno.
I'd be find if the game were limited to ONE bed, that you had to break down and take with you whenever you wanted to go scout out beyond the horizon.
But if you didn't make your bed, and you get killed, you wind up at your last known respawn point.
