Awesome mod. @zompiepig333 could you try to make it that when the bookshelves are full that they give off the effects for making enchantment tables rise in enchant level?
They've done that for a while now
It's levels depending on how many books are in em
I placed the download file, the .zip, into my .minecraft/mods folder but its not working. I have Forge and many other mods installed. Can someone help me with the installation?
Download zombiepig333's version. I can't vouch for it working, but I can tell you it'll probably work better on 1.6 than the version in the OP will.
@zombiepig333, thanks for updating. I honestly have about 0 time to update this... if you want to take over the mod, you have my full endorsement.
This is an awesome mod. One thing though, the books in the bookshelf unload when you log into a server, or the chunk unloads when you aren't in it. You have to right click on the blocks to make the books load. This is putting a bit of a damper on my library.
I've noticed there's an issue with books loading visually in bookcases when connecting to a server. Bookcases always show up empty until you look at them, or spend a long period of time in the area.
Sorry if this has already been brought up! I didn't read the whole thread.
Oh, I knew it wasn't a bug; I just wasn't very fond of this feature. However, I do like the idea.
I just really don't have the time right now
If someone wrote it and submitted it to my github as a pull request, I'd add it for sure

I like it. Would only work properly with even numbers of items, though, right, due to truncation? Two bookshelves with 5 "knowledge items" each would produce 2*((5 items)/2) -> 2*(2.5) -> 2*(2) -> 4 power?
Off the top of my head, my criteria would be that it ought to contribute either information or mystical power. Anything called "empty", "blank", or "new" would be an easy elimination. I'm not familiar with many mods, but looking at the config file I see...
Ah, exciting! Very interesting to read your commented TODO list!
Now to nitpick (this IS the internet, right?) Code question, spoilered because that's a bit off the main topic:
I dunno Java, but I know three doesn't go evenly into eight. Looking at your code for determining the power the storage bookshelf adds for enchanting, I read it as varying based on how full the shelf is (this is the coolest way, and thus I assume it was your intent).
You appear to be reconciling the eight slots of your bookcase against the three books used in a traditional bookcase by dividing your filled slots by three to get the added power; it seems like that potentially gives us triple the vanilla enchant power from one filled Storage Bookshelf - if true, that is awesome.
So I guess my actual question is: won't integer rounding create a situation where I can put two books on the shelf and it'll round (2 slots)/3 up to one vanilla bookshelf of enchanting power?
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..
Maybe T_T
I'll work on that xD
See, this is why I open-sourced it :3
Create an issue for it on the GitHub if you want xD

Now this is smart.
How about every "knowledge" item gives 1/2 of a bookshelf worth of stuff?
Wanna list items you think should be knowledge stuff?

shoot
also true
any ideas on how to fix this?
maybe make each book give 1/4 of a vanilla one? :T
cause you can put like maps and stuff in it too
