posted a message on Use of 1.7.3 snapshot HAS CRIPPLED my 1.7.2 and under
I had this same issue, which resulting from playing beta 1.7.3. The only way I have found to fix this is to back up all the files you want to keep in your .minecraft folder, delete the folder, and start over. While this did fix my performance in 1.7.2 I am forever stunted in how well I can run every version of the game prior to 1.6, so if you plan to play below that I cannot help you.

    Quote from DarkStormDragon

ok using Magic Launcher 1.2.2 trying to run MC 1.6.4 with the 1.6.4-Forge9.11.0.883 environment everything seemed to go ok but now minecraft isnt launching at all. I click Login it says logging in then nothing. anyone else getting this?Ill add tha

ill add that when i run 1.7.2 using ML 1.2.2 MC starts perfectly

I actually had that problem earlier. What I did was downgrade to forge 953 for 1.6.4, and I was able to launch it. If you are using optifine, that seems to cause a crash as well. Put it into the forge mods folder and it should work. There may be a slight hit to the performance, but I'm not entirely sure

posted a message on [Launcher] Magic Launcher 1.3.4 (mods, options, profiles, news)
I recently had to delete my .minecraft folder because of a lot of lag occurring in the game. After I did that, MagicLauncher can't remember my username or password, and it is unable to launch minecraft 1.6.4 with optifine and forge installed -- the versions of which I know are compatible and were able to launch before I deleted the folder. I know that the required jars are there, and I made sure that the parameter in the advanced section is there, but it does not launch minecraft, the launcher closes, and no error message pops up. Is there a way to fix these two issues?

posted a message on OptiFine HD C6 (FPS Boost, Dynamic Lights, Shaders and much more)
I had to delete my .minecraft folder recently, as I was getting a lot of lag. After doing this, MagicLauncher will no longer remember my username or actually launch the game, regardless of what profile I use. I am currently using the most recent version, 1.2.2. Is there any way to fix this error? Note that it closes without generating an error message, when I log in nothing happens

posted a message on what if the internet went down globally?
Well, I would be more confused more than anything, or possibly dead. I can't really think of anything that could take down the entire internet without doing other kinds of damage. I don't really know what global EMP detonations would do the environment and to people, but that can't be good. Nor do I know what would a solar flare of that size would do, but probably not good. I know a gamma ray burst would take it down, and also end the earth.

However, barring that, if the internet were to go down in a way that did not also destroy everything else, I would imagine that all kinds of wars would break in the confusion. Communication would be bad, but luckily I don't think any of the nuclear missiles work without satellite guidance, and I will assume that if we won't have internet we won't have that.

If we manage to not go extinct during this time period, I like to think we would invent some new protocol for linking computers, and slowly build up to where we were before the crash.

To answer your original question, I would be sad in the end, because although I do see something similar to the internet emerging several years after the crash, I imagine a lot of people would be dead as a result

posted a message on Should I start a new world for 1.7 after having my old one for a year?
New chunks should generate if you walk out further, so you can still get new biomes. I would recommend travelling out with a nether portal, to avoid the giant cliffs that occur with terrain generation changes

Why GubleCraft: My own server recently died. I really like to play survival with others, and this seems like a nice place to do that -- no donator bonuses and the simple mods are nice. I simply want to play minecraft with a mature group of people who want to actually play and enjoy the game

    Any friends on GubleCraft? No

Well. A dragon and a Golem... wait, would the zombies even care about us? I have no flesh and I don't think they go for dragons

posted a message on Snapshot 13w38a Ready For Testing!
It would appear that they added shaders to the game, but they cycle randomly through a list, for a kinds of *wierd* effects. I also noticed new video options, including antialiasing, mipmaping, post processing, and fps capping. The game also seems to run much more smoothly for me, and announces in chat when an achievement is achieved.

The biome generation may also have been tweaked, because I am seeing a lot more unique landmasses and more differing landscapes, on two maps I generated.

posted a message on CPU fan problems
It's just the fan. It's a sound I know well, sadly. I would recommend getting either a coolermaster fan or a silenzio fan, which are quiet and quite efficient, and also fine replacements for the fans I had that failed. The PSU change wouldn't have broken them, I don't think -- I have never had one fail that way. (and I have a had a lot of power surges and faulty psu's [bad luck, I guess (wooo nested sentences :D)])

Just replace the fan, preferably with a more powerful one to get better airflow, and you should be fine
