It's already known and already fixed, although I don't think we will see the fix ourselves until the next snapshot. It's just a problem with the Mesa biome - there's supposed to be a bunch of colored clay in the big open space there.Quote from mooksie01
It's some kind of glitch. It's like the world is corrupt. I had the same thing happen to me a second ago while generating worlds. It happened in a Mesa biome which seems to be your problem too. I'll report it as a bug. I had to delete the world and generate a new one to get everything fine again.

Apr 29, 2012scatterbrained posted a message on Change Your Minecraft Name? Possibly In The FuturePosted in: NewsQuote from JetraThat aside, I don't really think you should be able to change your username. You should have taken the time to think about what you wanted and/or make alternates should a name get taken.
Uh, I don't know about you, but I signed up for MC because my friend said, hey this is a fun game, you should try it! I didn't know my signup would be my in-game name. Hell, I didn't even know there was multiplayer at the time. And I certainly didn't think it was something I'd still be playing a year later.
I used my real name, and because of that I'm hesitant to play online with anyone except people I know IRL. The opportunity to change my name means I can actually join servers and meet new people without fear of being stalked or something. This is good thing - this game is played by more people than just 13 year old griefers.
And because some people seemed to have not heard it the first 8 times, you can ban the IP address. Changing your name is not a free pass to get back on a server if you ban them right. - To post a comment, please login.

No one posted their handwriting in my post your handwriting thread today. I wrote a rap song about it. (insert rap song)

I've explored the area of a fully zoomed map, so about 2000 x 2000 squares, and found Plains, Extreme Hills, Forest, Taiga, Ice Plains, Swamp, Mega Taiga, Ocean, Roofed Forest, and Flower Forest. So 10 different biomes within a day's walk of home.
I do wonder how far I'll have to explore to find a desert or jungle, but I kind of like that I have to work to get there. But this is coming from someone who often plays on Large Biomes.

I think the clay solution is mesas - whole biomes full of clay. So problem solved.
So honestly I don't think the devs need to do a thing. But that's just me.

Thanks for the screenshots. Love the colored clay mesa - hope they do another snapshot quick with the fix!

So all "gear check" is really saying is that if you spring for better gear, you have a better chance of winning. What horrible game design! Gear should have no point whatsoever! I hate Minecraft but post on the forums every day!!1!

Of course I still expect them to fix it. But it's about as game-breaking as when they added snouts to pigs.

Video games have bosses. Bosses drop loot.
What they did right was not forcing anyone to have to fight the wither if they don't want to. So enjoy the other parts of the update and just forget the wither exists.

Make something easy to obtain/maintain, everyone complains it's too easy.
Make something difficult to obtain/maintain, everyone complains it's too hard.
An anvil is a luxury item that makes very powerful things. I am completely fine with it using a lot of iron (I get it faster than I can use it up anyway), I am fine with it costing a significant amount of exp (exp is so easy to get now, even without a farm), and I'm fine with it breaking (because a one-time cost of 55 ingots is too cheap to matter to a late-game player). Besides, it's not like you're going to be using your anvil 500 times a day - maintaining your best stuff really doesn't require much use.
If you hate the cost of renaming stuff, don't rename stuff. It's a gimmick and you don't need it. If people have exp to burn, they can burn it this way instead of enchanting things they don't need.
If you think the anvil should be easy to get and last forever, consider that there are many people that play minecraft, and some of them need a little more of a challenge. It is a motivator to get to that point in the game when you can easily pay the costs for it, not the thing you build right after you make a bed in your first-night cave house.

1. People complain about ridiculous things.
2. Only an extremely small, extremely vocal minority are trying to make something look like a real issue.
This is the downside of having a game so closely tied with it's community. No one is going to complain about some random monster in Borderlands 2 because the developers don't give a @%#. But since the MC devs actually listen, you have people that whine and complain about every single detail of every single update. Give people power, and this is what they do with it. This is why I can only take these forums in small doses.
TL;DR just play Minecraft (witch and all) instead of complaining on the forums and you'll be a happier person.

I do wish they were a little more blocky though. I hope new monsters don't become increasingly more detailed and less Minecrafty.
