Two enderman loom over the player after he has been transported back to the overworld. They speak to him through his thoughts. They have the conversation that is the end credits. The player awakens. He knows that there is much more to come and much more to do in his life, the eternal dream.
That, or Notch just put a corny story in so people think that it has some deep meaning because he is a troll.
