September 25, 2021: Minecraft lost it's soul somewhere between 1.7.10 and 1.8. Took me until 1.9 to realize it. Sorry for the VFIII tease, just ain't happening. Thanks to everyone who played these maps and helped support their creation. I've removed the downloads as of today, if you still have them feel free to redistribute. I've also removed the terms and conditions section so go ham. Catch ya on the flipside ✌😎
Vinyl Fantasy is a Complete The Monument style custom map series where the objective is to find hidden records (music discs) and return them to a JukeBox Monument. These maps remain true to Minecraft's survival mechanics while adding a high level of difficulty, a list of objectives and an ultimate goal for the player. Expect harsh terrain, dangerous architecture and down right nasty dungeons full of unruly mobs to combat.
Q: Why are these maps so old? Why can't I play in current versions? Will you ever update old maps?
A: I have no plans to update older maps to current versions. The old maps don't work in current versions for the most part. As with any Minecraft map, you should only play in the game version the map maker recommends. Recommended versions for each map are listed in the Map Information tabs.
Q: Will these maps work in multiplayer?
A: Yes, unless otherwise stated in the Map Information tab of each map.
Q: I installed (x)mod and/or played the map in the version of my own choosing and the map seems borked. Can you help me?
A: Nope.
Q: How difficult is (x)map? How long will it take to complete?
A: Both of the answers to these questions are completely subjective. Any map maker who tells you otherwise is probably lying to you.
Q: If I ask you when the next map will be released, will that help the map to be released any sooner?
A: Absolutely yes! Nah, I'm just kidding. Of course not. That's just silly.
Q: What's a record? Why "Vinyl" Fanstasy?
A: Well young Timmy I'll tell ya... Vinyl is a material used to make records. Records are what gets played on a jukebox. The vinyl is commonly colored black (much like the "music disk" in Minecraft.) For a real life reference, go have a look in your Grandpa's basement - next to his stereo is... ...a bong... but, next to the bong is an old milk crate full of vinyl records. Do not drink the bong water, unless you want tumors. Because that's how you get tumors.
- Survive in any way you can think of.
- Find and complete the JukeBox Monument.
- Find records (music discs) hidden around the map.
- Do not build Nether Portals.
- Do not use records dropped by Creepers to complete the JukeBox Monument.
- Always play on Easy difficulty or higher. No peaceful.
- Do not craft, break or place Ender Chests.
- Do not use mods, commands, plug-ins or 3rd party apps that give you an unfair advantage.
- Do not leave the boundaries of the map and enter normally generated Minecraft terrain.
- Do not break the jukebox or wool blocks in the JukeBox Monument.
VINYL FANTASY I: for MC v1.1
For MC v1.1
About:
Map version: v1.1.2
Minecraft Version Compatibility: v1.1
Players: SSP / SMP
Map Style: Open-World
Objectives: 11 records (music discs) and 6 ore blocks
Vinyl Fantasy is my first excursion in CTM level design. It's kind of a cornucopia of different styled areas ranging from dark to beautiful to kind of wacky. The starting area plays like a harsh survival island. From there the player can branch out in various directions, encountering all kinds of nasty along the way.
Map Specific Rules:
Do not use SMP spawn hole to get to the warp zone.
Do not to use the water in the ceiling spawn as a resource in-game.
VINYL FANTASY II: For MC v1.2.5
For MC v1.2.5
About:
Map Version: v1.1.0
Minecraft version Compatibility: v1.2.5
Players: SSP / SMP
Map Style: Open-World / Central-Branching hybrid
Objectives: 11 records (music discs)
Vinyl Fantasy II is somewhat of an experimental CTM map. The player will experience both open-world and central-branching level progression spanning all three Minecraft dimensions along with custom lore piecing together a storyline. The overworld of this map is divided into three main areas consisting of huge, open-world style design. Each overworld area contains resources, challenges and a dungeon area containing a record (music disk.) The rest of the map takes place in other dimensions where the progression is a traditional central-branching style with more condensed dungeon areas.
Map Specific Rules:
Installing Last_Username's Lights Out mod to fix phantom skylight errors present in MC v1.2.5 is highly recommended.
VF-Mini: Industrial Park: For MC v1.5.2 - v1.6.4
For MC v1.5.2 - v1.6.4
About:
Map Version: v1.1.1
Minecraft Version Compatibility: v1.5.2 - v1.6.4
Players: SSP
Map Style: Central-Branching
Objectives: 3 records
This is the first mini-map in the VINYL FANTASY series. It's really difficult. Did I mention I've been feeling nostalgic for a little Super Meat Boy lately? Yeah, this one is a survival / action / platformer that will make you rage! It's not just a run and gun platformer though, you'll need to keep your wits about you. Survival isn't easy and this map proves it. You'll need to make use of tools and resources you never thought possible. Be aware of your environment and always take advantage of anything you can to survive. A true test of agility, combat skills and problem solving.
VF-Mini: Eventide Trance: For MC v1.8 - v1.8.8
For MC v1.8 - v1.8.8
About:
Map Version: 1.0.2
Minecraft Version Compatibility: v1.8.8
Players: SSP / SMP
Map Style: Open-World
Objectives: 3 records
Eventide Trance is a unique blend of Ultra-Hardcore and Complete the Monument genres. The map offers character progression, vanilla gear progression and a customized loot drop and trading system. You must survive an open-world where you'll be able to attack strange obelisks full of enemies in order to gain permanent health upgrades. When you feel strong enough, there are 3 Trance dungeons containing the music discs needed to complete the jukebox monument. Good luck!

Welcome to Untold Stories. This is where I post my CTM maps. (Complete The Monument) The objective is to finish the Monument by placing different colored wools and other material blocks on it. You find these wool blocks scattered around the map. The material blocks are iron, gold and diamond blocks. You may craft these blocks for the monument, But you are not allowed to craft the wool blocks.
Are you new to my maps? Or just new to the CTM genre in general? Then you should play Corona Trials! It's one of the best works I have to offer and is also really enjoyable for CTM newcomers!
Do you want to make videos of a map of mine? Sure, I recommend it, but you must have a link to this thread. If people watched your videos and want to play it themselves, they can find it really fast.
Without further ado, Let's get on to the maps!

I've frequently gotten requests about an easier map, so here we go! This map is based around fire with a difficulty that builds up. It starts off at a manageable level suitable for newcomers to the CTM (Complete The Monument) genre, but will get quite tricky over time.

Untold Stories 03 - Myriad Caves - 1.2.1 for MC 1.10
Myriad Caves, an extensive network of caves providing plenty to explore. This map is experimental in two ways.
Firstly, the map layout is an open-world cave layout. So areas may have an abounding amount of pathways to other areas. Secondly, the map uses a different food/health system than a normal MC world. Instead of getting food points back you get health back directly when you eat a piece of food. This in combination with the challenging areas will provide you with a challenging yet rewarding experience. How far will you make it?

Untold Stories 01 - Goliath - 1.1 for MC1.8
From forests to deserts. Go diving in the deepest oceans or go spelunking in the darkest caves. This map is an environment based map. It is extremely vast so that explains its name. It starts off relatively easy, but it gets harder and harder over time. But be wary, the map has a fair amount of traps
This map is a really rough map and not my best quality work. I recommend you Try some of my MC1.9+ maps.

Untold Stories Mini 03 - The Sower - 2.1 For MC 1.13.2
This is my first (mini) map for 1.13. The map experiments a bit with the core mechanics by introducing a new hostile mob spawning
system and and a spammable sword system. Feel free to leave feedback on how they play as I might use them again in a future map.
The map was originally made for the 21st Strawberry Jam, but I ran into time constraints, so I finished it as a standalone project.
In a world roses have withered and gloom filled the sky your objective is to find all flowers in the dark depths.
Retrieve all flowers to reap the victory. You start in a barren wasteland filled with old barrows.
As you explore these desolate ruins you will discover there is more than just old crypts below.

Greetings people of the internet! I would like to announce my new map Untold Stories 5: Calamity Canyon! It will be out on 2 Feb 2018 as an open-world map containing 12 objectives with a difficulty that ramps up. The main focus of the map lies more on exploration and survival in a hostile environment while utilizing new fancy features like advancements! Hope you are excited!

I would like to make an announcement! Yesterday the 6th of December my maps turned 3 years old!
To celebrate this I am announcing my next map: Untold Stories 5 Calamity Canyon!
I originally had a different map planned for spot 5, but I have been working on a smaller map as I don't want to just wait for 1.13 while doing nothing. So the original Untold Stories 5 will be moved to Untold Stories 6. Calamity Canyon is almost done as I only need to finish the final dungeon and then test it a bit for fine tuning. Its an open-world map with a scarcity of resources, so it kinda plays more like a hard survival map than other of my maps do.
1
-The longest to complete was Primeval Woods. I got stuck for a few weeks on the idea of the volcano and how one would enter it. I was also not too happy with the different trees I created at first so I redid them. This map actually didn't take that much time to make compared to my other maps. (this one took 3 months)
-I would say the Nebula Citadel. I've had the idea of the nebula citadel for a while, but the problem was that if I have an idea for a long time I start to iterate on it more and more and it becomes grander. I basically set the quality bar really high for myself. It turned out really well compared to the ideas I had.
-Probably The Deep Dark Dungeon, its just a really generic mossy dungeon, but that was kinda the idea of it. I could have made a more creative lay-out as it is just simple rooms and hallways. (except for the iron bar room, that one was kinda interesting for gameplay)
-Myriad Caves is a good follow up, but beware, the map is massive and pretty difficult. My first two maps are ok (I would recommend Goliath after you try Myriad), but they show that they are my first maps.
-The Tacos and Corndogs are mine! All hidden in my lair! >:D
2
I would say either Myriad or Corona. Depends on whaty you are looking for as well. Myriad is pretty massive and difficult and focuses partly on resource starving. It's also open-world so you can go quite a few ways. Corona is more linear, easier and smaller. I would say give Corona a whirl if you haven't played too many CTM's before.
1
The function of the records isn't just doing damage. For instance, one is a spammable knockback weapon, another one is good for getting extra drops with fortune and looting. You can also switch them from mainhand to offhand pretty quickly as well as they are spammable. So if you know an enemy is almost dead you can switch to a looting disc and kill it with it.

Untold Stories #4 Corona Trials will go into an open-beta state this Wednesday (the first of February). When you play the map feel free to leave your thoughts here!

Brian (Lorgon111) and I have recorded some commentary about Myriad(My-raid) Caves. Are you curious about some of the thoughts that went into making a map like this? Then I definitely recommend taking a look at this (rest of it is expected to air daily):
