As an active and fair server admin I consider this a useful tool in my belt for finding cheaters. I can find hidden rooms where people hide their xrayed items, odd looking mines with no torches that show people have xrayed etc.

This paired with a good rollback/block logging plugin has kept my server cheat free quite nicely, thanks.

The server is now updated to 1.5! We reset the nether and have started work on rebuilding the nether hub so people can reconnect their homes from long distances.

Hope to see you in game soon!

We've had another few donations recently. MariachiKid donated $10, as well as Doomed_One, and DeathShadowXx donated $50! Thanks a bunch to them.

Our little community is growing nicely, and I must say it's refreshing to be playing with such good folks! Thank you guys so much.

I never ask for donations, and donating gets you nothing in game except a purple name. With that said, I'd like to thank our two most recent donors pkruk1, and dmcnally1 for donating $10 each to help with running the server.

how active are you in GMT timezones?

I've got a couple players from Austrailia, and two from Sweden right now, so the server has players online in the afternoon's there quite often. However, the server is still new, this is only the second weekend it's been open to the public. :)

I am actually *really* surprised with the response we've been getting.. With the pain in the ass registration process, I didn't expect the server to grow as fast as it has. We've currently got 12 active players, (usually 0-4 online), and I'm looking to get some more to add to our little growing community. The server is white listed, but anyone can join and look around before they decide to apply for build access.

We've also got a forum online for applications and other stuff. We've got a pretty cool system in place for taking care of people's stuff that have long been inactive, or banned, etc.

Why would you want to play here? I have been running servers for Minecraft since 2009. I like playing with a small tight group of people I can call friends. Building a small community and helping each other out is the most rewarding thing about Minecraft for me. The other server I run (mc.raskull.com) is open to anyone that wants to play, however the average age of players in Minecraft is decreasing, and I find that the general population of players is just simply too young for me. I'm 33 years old and I want to play with mature people! If you agree with this, and feel the same way, then this server is for you.

    - I want to create a mature, adult only, friendly survival experience for those who like hard difficulty, vanilla gameplay.
    - Age verification is *required*
    - I want to create a community that you can make friends in, somewhere that you can enjoy playing without sifting through the massive amounts of 12 and 13 year olds of minecraft.
    - This server is a place where you can trust those who play with you. We won't steal your stuff, we won't grief you, and the same is expected of you.

If this sounds like something you would enjoy, I would love to have you on the server. Please visit http://raskull.com/f...p?f=12&t=126956 and submit your application. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Just a head's up. This host is dying.. the service is downhill, and right now dozens and dozens of the servers hosted on it are crashed, and won't start (mine included). I'm currently downloading my files via FTP and canceling my account.

TFC is pretty awesome, but I think it might be something to explore at a later date, I do want to have a semi vanilla experience. Same with the super hostile maps. I want a build server primarily.

Yeah I did consider that, that is a really cool mod. I do like the vanilla experience though, maybe once I get this idea up and running, I could have a second world or second server with it running. It would be fun for sure.

Good point nitrogen. I feel like I need to put restrictions on what the admins are there for because I'm used to being asked a hundred times a day how to make a residence. I do want a mature player base, but perhaps those restrictions about asking for plugin help aren't needed.

I want to make a place that would cater to those of us who like difficulty. I want to struggle to survive sometimes, I want to die and lose my stuff sometimes. I also want the ability to use my building skills to build something awesome for others to see.

This is why I came here you ask you guys.

I am 32, have been running a server for years, and am a Linux admin. I like the challenge of figuring out how to run plugins, and like the satisfaction of doing something right.

I'm entertaining the idea of taking down my current server and making a new one with these ideals in mind. It would likely be whitelisted, and 18+ only. I want to hear from you guys what you would like to see implemented for a perfect survival experience.

    Ideals:
    - No item spawning ever.
    - PVP enabled, but only allowed on a flagged for pvp basis. You can choose if you want to pvp or not.
    - No economy. Using emeralds and another more abundant item is encouraged for trading usage. Maybe emeralds and redstone dust?
    - No warps. /spawn and /home only. No /back.
    - Creeper explosions and fire spread are on. You can create a residence to protect your stuff.
    - No ranks. Admins are there to fix possible greifing etc, but cannot spawn items.
    - No helping with plugins. We are tired of answering questions that you can easily figure out for yourself. Help yourself, or go somewhere else.
    - No you can't have admin if you ask. We pick you, not the other way around.

What do you think? Any other ideals you recommend? Any changes you would like to see? What is your ultimate survival experience?

Some really awesome suggestions guys, thank you for the good response. I'm looking at a few of you for sure, and will purchase one this month.

As for the windows guy, the one in europe, and the others with no SSH access.. Really? I figured I'd get some help, not offer you an excuse to spam your company all over.

I need a new host. The one I'm currently on is really awesome and cheap, but without SSH access I'm really missing out on some things I want to be able to do. I'm a linux admin, and the lack of control feels.. naked. I want my screen session for watching the console on my phone!

I'm looking for a US or Canadian host, $20/month or less (can compromise slightly), and full SSH access. I'd like to have at least 1.5GB dedicated ram as my server gets up to 15 players frequently.

I also need a dedicated IP, as I will point a subdomain of mine at it.

Let me know what you guys have got to offer!

If you have support for dynmap, that's a huge plus.
