A system for converting bars and blocks into minecoin currency. The mechanics behind this system can be used for a wide variety of applications such as subways and toll bridges for carts. You will need buildcraft and I suggest Minecoins for currency.
I have also provided several examples of the components involved in the build so feel free to download the map save and take a look at it. These components can be used for making subways that require coins, stores, banks, etc.
We take a updated look at how our power plant is coming along on our modded server. A list of mods used in these videos can be seen at www.mellavana.com
This is a door lock using buildcraft. Instead of using a complicated button combination it uses items as the keys to the door. You can set up-to 4 of any minecraft item as a key. Simply toss the items into the slot and give it a moment and the door will unlock. hit the lever to return the items/keys to yourself before leaving. Incorrect items will be place in the chest inside the safe.

What I would say to improve:
Try and add a bit more features to it, e.g: a vehicle storage in some sort of garage on the side.
Take The Simpsons for example.
Yes the powerplant actually will have a whole cart storage/sorting system for distributing energy to future buildings being planned. It will also have an entire monitoring system for the engines and tanks to keep track of energy and fuel. At the moment many of the features are still being tested before I build them into the building.
I have been working on a power-plant for my Minecraft city build. This will be a fully functional powerplant when finished. Some of the features that will eventually or already are in the build are the following:
Railcraft distribution system for energy into city using computercraft
Oil storage and manufacturing for fuel (oil delivered via railcraft from around server)
Computercraft monitoring system for engine arrays and oil/fuel/water storage
Conversion of Buildcraft energy into IC2 power for storage in a massive storage array
Energy request system via computercraft (Building in city can request energy and have it sent via rail cart.
engine array using over 150 combustion engines all with emergency auto shutoff and computercraft controlled activation.
cooling storage capable of holding over 8million units and self refilling
I am far from finnished with this build but those who want to follow along or toss me ideas or help can visit my site and comment! www.mellavana.com
Updates:
10/25/2012
added in oil tanker to the dock and hooked up steam boilers to power the refinery hidden inside.
Laid track and tunneled out to oil holding area for the off shore oil deposits
installed a railcraft siding so trains don't crash into each other
installed more tanks and pipes
tinkered with computer craft to try and learn some basics
Join me as I start construction of some core components for the Mellavana Server project, a fully modded Modern Minecraft City using Industrial mods to create a working sim of a city. We start with the powerplant and move forward from there.

Perfect, was looking for a physical currency mod for our server so people would interact more instead of just using the chat function. My suggestion for crafting currency would be to make some sort of printing/stamping press that requires a non craftable item to be used the "master die" or printing plate.
This would allow for people to exchange iron/copper/gold/etc for server currency and then said ores could be smelted and turned into currency via a press. Just an idea! Enjoying its simplicity!
