There is nothing I can do, and there isn't much I should expect them to do, because mods do in fact have access to all Minecraft internals.
If so many of them use similar methods, can't you write tests for at least the methods you know about, and then have said test load some edge case code to patch it? I'm not saying it wouldn't be hackish, but it might work.
This is not a "minor bug". The 1.7.10 version has nothing like fuel cost in place and BetterChests was never intended to do so. So it's not a bug. And to add that to the 1.7.10 version, it's not worth the efford I would have to take to put that in, so it's not minor either.
Oh ok. My apologies. Free parallel smelting then! Nothing really to complain about.
While I understand that you probably don't want to issue new releases for 1.7.10, I've noticed that there is a bug where the furnace chest does not require fuel. Given how I was planning on deploying those anyway, although I don't normally care about balance very much, that is a bit beyond the pale. Would you be willing to issue a minor bugfix for that?
The Mechanic Furnace apparently has an item duplication bug, as well. When I put sand in it in order to smelt it into glass, it keeps smelting multiple glass blocks from the single block of sand.

Looks like something is up with the heat generator. It crashed when I tried to open the UI. I'm running a rather custom install with close to 90 other mods; I was going to include that list, but it was a bit long. I don't think it's because I'm missing the little tiles dep, because I'm running that. I hope you can fix this, because I'd love to use this mod; the video for it looked really exciting.
This is probably the most enjoyable mod I've played for quite some time; it has really rejuvenated the game for me. Given that I'm also on a laptop at the moment, I need mods which are more efficient and less resource hungry. I had BetterDungeons installed for a little while, but that lags and crashes the game periodically, so I had to remove it. This is a great alternative; and given the use it makes of vanilla resources, I think Mojang should seriously consider adding it to the vanilla game.
The best thing about this mod, I think, is how quickly it helps me get up to speed on new maps. I've been playing Minecraft since 2010, so I'm well and truly over the usual starting crap at this point; I want to get resources as fast as I can, to get up to the part of the game I enjoy, which is building machines. Your dungeons give me a good amount of wood and food quickly, and also stave off the new map boredom with some early combat. I've also been able to set up a base in one of the underground rooms I cleared, which was perfect for me.
It's great overall. I've made a private modpack for myself, and this works really well with it.
When i build a portal in the nether, it spawns me almost always as low as possible in the overworld. For example, my coordinates in the nether are 800 / 90 / 30, so i should spawn close to layer 90 in the overworld but it usually spawns me only under layer 30. Are there any tips/tricks which affect spawning location?
One of my cardinal rules on a new map is, do not build your first Overworld portal below 64 Y. The game actually scans down from the ceiling in order to figure out where to either put portals, or send people in the Nether; so if it is putting you at low points, it's for two possible reasons.
a} Your Overworld portal is underground or below 64 Y (sea level) and the game is trying to match elevations for the linking portal in the Nether.
b} Less commonly, it may simply be that there is solid Netherrack for several dozen blocks above the elevation in the Nether that matches your Overworld portal, so the game simply has to put the portal in the first non-obstructed place it can find.
Either way, don't build your first Overworld portal underground. If the game keeps building Nether portals underground, you will simply have to break them and change the elevation.
Find a cave which will take you down to 12, first. You can dig a vertical shaft, but it is slow and extremely boring, comparitively. Once you get there, find lava, with a solid wall on one side of it.
Dig into said solid wall using this pattern, making your passageways two blocks high. As you can see, it spans an entire chunk, so you can therefore use it to clear each chunk systematically. If you don't find diamonds within that chunk on level 12, then simply go two blocks up (or down, but you'll have to dodge lava) and use the same pattern. Do that on every floor between 5 and 16 for the same chunk, until you find diamond. You will most likely find a lot of other materials using this method, as well.
Don't mine like this for too long, however. It is the most efficient mining technique in the game that I know of, but it is also highly repetitive, and you will get extremely bored, very quickly. Alternate mining with farming, exploring, or fighting mobs.
Can anyone explain this? A German tutorial for Red Power 2, which is apparently using version 1.6.4. Is there a private release somewhere that most of us don't know about?
I recently downgraded back to 1.2.5, and I encourage just about everyone on the planet to do likewise. A solid, crash bug free version of Red Power 2, and access to mods like ToggleBlocks, which allows for a lot more creativity, and a lot less balance obsession than what we've seen recently.
Seriously; do yourselves a favour, and at least consider it.

I will test it out. I was quickly drawn to your mod by the animations; you've done very very well.

Alternate mining with farming, exploring, or fighting mobs.

b} Find nearest chunk boundaries, on x and z axes.
c} Make first base at y=57, assuming surface is y=64.
d} Assuming first chunk is 0 x and z, dig a two block wide shaft at 7-9z, 0 x and down from 57 y.
e} Begin one chunk branch mine at 12 y.

Can anyone explain this? A German tutorial for Red Power 2, which is apparently using version 1.6.4. Is there a private release somewhere that most of us don't know about?

Seriously; do yourselves a favour, and at least consider it.
